Not sure how to feel about RP-PVP...

I want to start off by saying that this is not a hate thread against RPers or anything. To be honest, I'm a little intrigued as to see how this will play out as an unofficial RP-PVP server. I'm sure it will be just fine. I sure as S*** do not plan on RPing to the least, an neither do any of my buddies that are rolling on this server. I'm sure the RPers will add some flavor and make griefing people a little more fun.

I think the only thing that is kind of bugging me, and im not saying this to attack anyone or group, is that this seem to happen very behind the scenes. I'm sure all the RPers had their vote or what have you and picked this server, but how come this wasn't a vote by the ENTIRE community that would be playing on this server? Clearly the fact that the RPers in the community got together and put this motion forward would show that there is a definite need for such a server. I think I just feel kind of slighted that this all happend seemingly behind the scenes and only a small group of people got to decide something for all the people that rolled on the server. I think thats my problem.

I'm really only standing on my soap box here, just saying things just to say them. As I said, it will probably be a great server and I don't want to change anything necessarily. Just wondering if there are other people that share the same sentiment as I. Anyways, I will see you all on the 19th and I am looking forward to it. The name is GimmeCat, and there is only one.

The more time that passes the more people will know Gimmecat. =)
It's not like you have to RP or anything either.
Besides, I wouldn't want an ENTIRE community here or the server would be over-crowded, it's better that we get to know our current community a bit before the population booms.

Well for starters, this isn't even a roleplay server, it's a PvP server, just like Valley and Coast. However, RPers who want to do some PvPing decided to come and play here instead of sticking to the PvE server which happens to be the only official RP server. It's nothing but choice, nobody expects anything from you, and RPers are free to RP on this server as they please.

Look at it from the bright side, servers with big guilds etc are filled with arrogant [filtered]s that love to gank you with a full group and go all "TROLOLOL PROBLEM?". RPers are the complete opposite of that. ;)

It actually was a poll in the roleplay forums. I saw it, I didn't mind. It's not like RP will even be the majority here. It's just one partial aspect of the whole, so look forward to enjoying it + all the other people that come over @ launch and forward.

If by "behind the scenes", you mean openly campaigned with EME for an official server, publicly discussed for weeks on end when it did not become a reality, and eventually voted on a server on this exact same forum we are posting on now under the "Roleplay" boards, then yes, you would be correct.

Very secretive.

We're just here to play with you. You should be happy, more people to PvP with. :D

So...what is there to be unsure about? No one is going to make you RP. Besides, if you were an RPer, would you want to RP with someone who has no desire and no experience RPing? Probably not.

All this means is that we have some organized people coming to the server, which honestly is a good thing.

While I'm not really an RPer either, I can say that my experience with RPers is usually that they are a hell of a lot more mature than your average joe on a PvP server who likes to turn every chat into Barrens chat.

I'm not seeing any downside to this.

For me, don't think this will cause any issues.

From what I've seen, RPers are usually much more "mature" than most basic "zerg" guilds/legions.

Besides, as mentioned there is no official RP-PvP server, si I'm sure that no one will be having issues by not RPing here.
