Blightwood: Public Debate for Vanarch Candidates

Welcome to the beginning of the political system in TERA!

Starting today, TERA players who meet certain requirements can register as candidates for vanarch. It's not always easy to convince everyone to vote for you instead of your esteemed opponents, though, so we'd like to provide you with a place to discuss your plans, make campaign promises, and show that you are the best-suited character to become a vanarch.

Think of this thread as a televised debate. Everyone's eyes are on you and they're eager to hear what you have to say. They're all waiting for you to assure them you are their champion, and that you will work to make their lives better in TERA!

So if you are a vanarch candidate on Blightwood, give a short introduction of yourself and your vanarchy platform. Heck, start an actual debate if you like. Has another candidate said that good vanarchs should look after their guild first? State why you think that's a bad idea! Do you think declaring war against a smaller guild is great way to promote PvP? Make a stance! The people deserve to know what you believe in. If you aren't running this time, this is an excellent opportunity to find out about the candidate to make an informed choice!

Better yet, challenge the other candidates with your own questions! This is a public debate! Here are some sample questions you can use as a starting point for political discussion:

  • What are your priorities for using policy points? Skill trainers? Specialty stores? Raise or lower tax rates first?
  • What would be your agenda as a vanarch? How do you plan to enact this agenda? With force? With rewards? Will your guild members help with enforcement?
  • How do you plan to receive feedback or questions on your rule?
  • If a conflict arises between what's best for the province and what's best for your guild, what will you do?
  • What makes you the best candidate?

This thread is for vanarch candidates to discuss their stances on various political items. Feel free to address other candidates directly and answer their questions, but please remember to follow the official TERA forum rules. We want a healthy and courteous debate, so be respectful to the other candidates. Remember, the public is watching you!

When I founded the Cutie Mark Crusaders I honestly didn't think the guild would take off like it has. Now we have 40+ Active members and I find myself in the position of politician. I'm not a politician though, I'm just a normal guy who wants his guild to not only prosper as a guild but in the position of Vanarch as well.

If you vote for me and the Cutie Mark Crusaders, I promise to keep all of the Vendors online every day and to maintain a tax rate of 5%.

All of those taxes will go into the Weekly Events we have been and will continue to run throughout our reign and afterwards and will be given back to the people in the form of Prizes.

But most importantly, I promise to listen and respond to each and every one of your suggestions and complaints with the sincerity, kindness, and sense of humor of a leader who genuinely cares about his fellow server mates.

What are your priorities for using policy points? Skill trainers? Specialty stores? Raise or lower tax rates first?

My first priority with the initial points given upon election will be to enable the Tactic & Magic trainers. Synergy feels that this will have the greatest impact on players. We’ll unlock the remaining perks for the area in the following order; Noble Cleric of Restoration, Trade Broker, and the Specialty Store.

The tax rate will be set at a fixed 1%. Synergy has no intention of trying to profit from the community but instead make our governed provenance as pleasant as possible for all players questing in the area.

What would be your agenda as a vanarch? How do you plan to enact this agenda? With force? With rewards? Will your guild members help with enforcement?

My agenda for the governed zone is to make it as easy and pleasant as possible. How will I achieve this? Besides unlocking crucial NPCs, I will be available to assist any player with BAMs, quests, and dungeons providing I am not currently working on a Vanarch quest to acquire more points to ensure the players in my area are taken care of. In the final week of my rule, any additional funds earned via taxes will be given back to random players in the province.

How do you plan to receive feedback or questions on your rule?

I will be available for any questions or feedback via in-game mail and whispers.

If a conflict arises between what's best for the province and what's best for your guild, what will you do?

I do not anticipate any conflict of this nature. If for some reason conflict occurs it will be handled on a case by case basis.

What makes you the best candidate?

I don’t consider myself better than any other candidate. With that said, I am a very active player with a proven track record for helping players outside the guild. Finally, I have an established plan to acquire and maintain the policy points needed to provide everything I have promised and a strong guild to back me up.

First of all, 3% tax rate (None of this low tax rate crap, I'll tell you the number happily.) This will help fund events as well as the next election.

All shops/trainers will be opened right away after/if appointed. (Thanks to the current praise of our guild)

We'll be watching out for all people within the zone, if I'm available I'll happily help out with BAMs. A little lancer love goes a long way. (Just don't expect any drops or xp from the BAMs themselves, I'm afraid I'd kill that in the provinces I'm running for)

And Bacon, we loves us some bacon so we import the best bacon from the fattest piglets of the Island of Dawn. (This will take a more serious affect if appointed.)

Remember folks, A vote for Homefry is a Vote for bacon!
