Launcher won't start

Yet again, I have the same problem. Launcher doesn't start. I tried every magical "solution" and nothing works, so don't bother posting links to other posts in forum. This is 2nd time this week, last time i had to redownload whole game. It worked for ~2-3 days, and now it's the same problem again. When i try to run it, TERA-Launcher.exe doesn't even appear in the Task Manager (unless i click it ~70 times, then it might show up for half a second) all that appears is svchost.exe, that turns off immediately anyway.

Please fix it ASAP, I don't fancy redowloading game every [filtered] time i want to play it... Or create 23gb installer, so that i could just reinstall it without redownloading the whole game, that would be a great help...

Haha, it sounds like you don't want help. What are all the solutions you've tried? Admin? Cache?

Since you didn't list what you've tried try running it as an administrator.

I don't think you tried everything if you're just linking those threads. If you briefly type out what you -know- you've tried I can see what you haven't done.

What exactly happens when you run TERA as admin?

I tried running Tera as admin, but it doesn't help, it doesn't even show in task manager. I tried clearing cache, deleting game.version, updating windows and root files, disabling internet connection and running tera launcher, then enabling it again. I tried running tera setup, and running simple installation process (modify option in installer) but those didn't work. I even tried searching for the TERA-Launcher repair tool that seems to have existed in the past, but for some reason, was deleted from the enmasse main site. Last time it happened to me, i just had to delete everything and download the game again, but i don't want to do that, becouse it takes ~13 hours to do so. Not the best idea of spending my weekend...

EDIT:
I also tried

I don't know that this will help you, but this seemed to fix it for me (although the combination of things I did before this, including trying the EU launcher (which worked and was downloading before I stopped it) could have all helped, somehow):

For Windows:

1. Click Start, type "cmd" (without quotes) into the search field at the bottom.
2. When you see the command prompt program appear at the top of the list, right-click and select run as administrator, allow it when prompted. You should now be in a command prompt window pointing to: C:\Windows\System32\

3. Type the following into the command prompt and press enter: netsh winsock reset

It may ask for a system reboot afterwards, you can if you want to, I did not.

You can now close command prompt. What this command does is reset your TCP/IP configuration settings back to factory default. During my hours of troubleshooting last night, I ran into a Windows problem where only Internet Explorer could connect to the internet. After using this, I tried the EU launcher and it installed and worked fine, and was downloading the patch data. I stopped it, uninstalled Tera once more, and downloaded the NA launcher.

It installed, and I unchecked "Launch Tera after exit" for good measure. Then I ran the launcher, and.. it started! And is still downloading data right now. I don't know that this will work for you, but it did for me.

I use a program called "TCPView" to monitor my connections from time to time, and when I had it open I noticed that "Tera-Launcher.exe" opens and is "listening" for a connection from the Tera servers. It did nothing but this. But because a connection could not be made (corrupt settings), it eventually timed out and gave me the error "Launcher already running - unable to load application configuration" and then closed.

So now, since Tera-Launcher.exe was able to establish a connection, all went well.

Again, I don't know that this will work for you, or anyone else, but it's worth a shot. Good luck.

When you run TERA as admin does nothing happen period or is there an error window?

Turn off your antivirus completely and give it a go.

Nothing happens, I don't get any error, it just doesn't start.

Is port 10001 open on your computer?

Go inside the TERA folder (should look something like C:\Program Files (x86)\TERA) and run the TERA-Launcher application from there (again as an admin.)

It must be open, since game worked pefectly yesterday. Launching from the root folder isn't really different than from the shortcut, and yes, I tried that too.

Seems like the fastest solution is actually redownloading the whole game again...

It is different if there's something wrong with the shortcut. If the game worked perfectly yesterday then I can't help but think that something obviously changed on your computer to cause this problem.

Give your DNS a good flush:

Press the Windows key + R to open a "Run" window.
Type "cmd" and press Enter to open a console window.
Type "ipconfig /release" and press Enter.
Type "ipconfig /renew" and press Enter.
Type "ipconfig /flushdns" and press Enter.
Type "exit" and press Enter to close the console window.

After that try modifying your host file:

Click on the Start or Windows icon and type in "Notepad". Do not press enter.
Right click on your Notepad icon and click "Run as Admin"
Navigate to the HOST file directory: c:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc
Open the "hosts" file
Add the following line at the very bottom of the exsisting text (do not add a # before this line):

208.111.148.7 patch.tera.enmasse-game.com

Save this file

Delete that line after you get the game working and running.

EDIT: If you redownload the game BACKUP your files. This is a good practice to develop with everything on your computer, not just TERA. It will save you a lot of headache in the future.
