Hello Everyone. I just wanted to say "thank you" to the players I encountered last night in the forests of Arcadia. I have never personally RP'ed (I have always been a bit curious to try, but too shy / afraid to attempt it). Last night, a group I joined by-chance welcomed me in-character and things just took off (I did my best to respond in-character and respond to the statements others made when I felt it appropriate or if my character could / would have something to say or add to it)...

I ended up participating in what felt like hours of good, in-character chat. I learned a lot about a particularly-interesting player character I encountered and I was somewhat put "on the spot" to develop a brief character backstory for myself (I had not already unfortunately).

I am certain I made a few mistakes (out of non-RP habit I put a smiley emote like ":)" in /say a few times at the beginning), but overall I think I did fairly well. More importantly (to me), I had an absolutely great time... I never realized how much more interesting and entertaining things can be by taking the time to RP (all while still enjoying the game for what it provides as-is, completing some quests, and eventually logging-off still feeling like I made good progress on my character).

Again, I just wanted to post this to say "thank you" to the players I encountered for their outgoingness, creativity, and patience. And, to encourage anyone who has held back on trying RP whether it be due to shyness, feeling overwhelmed or not knowing where to start, to take a deep breath and give it a try! I do not think you will regret it.

There is going to be a gathering at the Chebika Tavern in southern Chebika tonight. Pop by and spend some more time with it. Also, I'm sure The Arete would like more presence!

We host an RP tavern event in South Chebika every Monday at 8:30 EST in Channel 2. You should come out! Lots of good RP and you can sit and listen if your are feeling shy.

100% agree. Don't know what it is about Tera or this server in particular - but RP has been fantastic here and for me and for the reason you mention - spontanious Rping by people who get you involved but don't mind if you slip up a bit.

it seems to be happening almost everywhere there are a few people gathered...usually you just toss out some descripive comment and see if anyone wants to go with it ... and I pay attention for others doing that too. Heck even just stopping and listening to others - makes the world feel that much more Dynamic.

You are right about it adding more to the whole experience...been doing this since Vanilla Wow and other mmo's but this is first server that just "flowed" and accepted :-)

I think that there is only one RP server has helped us all to find one another.

My guild hosts Friday night storytelling events, so if you want a chance to learn a little lore, a little background to others and maybe just gain a few friends; watch for us in the Velika outskirts.

Thank you all for your responses, information, and encouragement :). I have not yet been to (or even seen on a map) Chebika, so I look forward to eventually finding it and getting there. I will keep an eye out for those story-telling events :).

I have (since my original post) also joined a small guild after running into a few of its members who were friendly, outgoing, encouraging roleplayers. I feel like I have been welcomed with open arms and I have never had so much fun playing an online game. Between the "action combat" and the roleplaying / Celestial Hills community, every expectation I had for TERA has been surpassed! I am so glad I did not let presumptions I had keep me from trying TERA.

I haven't had too much luck coming across any RP so far. I'd assumed it'd be happening all around Velika, what with it supposed to be a bustling city of some sort. But more often than not, Velika seems... dead. Is there some sooper seekrit place I should try trolling for RP?

There's not one place that I've seen, really. Velika does have some RP, but the best way I've found so far is to watch the events and forums announcements here on these boards and on the Council of Seven multi-guild RP-Hub site. Most guilds hosting open meet-ups announce them in advance and on these two sites, such as the Chebika Oasis tavern on Mondays and the Storytelling events Friday nights. There are more! I've also noticed more people hanging around Tulufan fairly often, especially on the rooftops to sunbathe.
