LGBT guild on CH? Need feedback.

Hello everyone. I am going to be playing on the Celestial Hills server and though I am quite inexperienced with roleplaying in MMORPGs I am very excited to begin trying to breathe life into my characters and fully immersing myself into my gaming. I tend to put a great deal of myself into my characters, at least in terms of personality. (Write what you know, eh?) And to this point, my main character is a homosexual. I would tend to shy away from posting this openly on a forum due to the massive amount of trolling/flaming people tend to give as a reaction, but from what I've seen the Celestial Hills community seems to be a bit more mature and respectful towards one another so I'm putting it out there.

I am interested in joining/creating a LGBT community guild. I do not currently know if any exist on this server, as the only threads featuring the topic are months out of date. And if one doesn't exist, would there be enough interest in it to warrant the creation of one? I would like honest feedback, positive and negative. I would also like to ask that if anyone on CH is interested in the creation of such a community to please let me know. Please also note that the intention of creating a LGBT community guild in-game is not to utilize it as a dating service, as trolls in other LGBT related posts have declared. It is to show unity and support and give players like myself the opprotunity to socialize with like-minded people. Not that difficult a concept to grasp, but some people don't seem to understand.

Anyway! Thoughts? Opinions?

I have seen this done in my other game, where an entire server actually housed the LGBT community. That being said, I haven't seen any guilds forming for that express purpose here. I understand your point about socializing with like-minded people, and also agree that Celestial Hills is probably the most receptive server to differences of this kind. I myself am not LGBT, but I can understand the desire to play with others with similar experiences.

If you want to try to make a LGBT guild, I say go for it. There are bound to be other people who are looking for the same, as the community of every game is a subset of the greater population. It would be fun if such a guild was also involved in roleplay, but simply respecting the conventions of the server is more than good enough, as there are a number of other people planning to roll here for the mature community that may shy away from roleplay and only watch it while respecting it.

In other MMO's I have seen entire servers that are LGBT friendly; and truthfully if you were going to choose any one server for this, Celestial Hills SEEMS to be it. The community on CH so far is extremely mature and friendly from what I can tell; and I'm sure I'm not the only person here who would support you.

I would seriously consider joining an LGBT guild.

I'll be waiting for more info. :)

That is a great initiative and like others have said Celestial Hills would be the perfect place for such a guild. You definitely have my support even though I'm not LBGT (I actually had to Google the meaning of that acronym :) )

I am however a Cross Dresser (guy playing a female character).

Being a homosexual myself, I find these types of guilds puzzling. They always seem to want socialise with "like-minded" inviduals, and yet discourage any kind of sexually related, or lifestyle discussions. It makes me wonder what the appeal of being in a guild with such a community is, when they can't even discuss what they were founded on. You might as well have joined any other guild you please, and get the same amount of support/unity for the same amount of non-discussion you're having.

Of course a roleplaying server would be considerably more mature, and I'd like to the think the majority of people in recent years are at the very least tolerant of LGBT people, and I don't feel the need to keep my lifestyle or orientation quiet within a small community like I might have a decade ago. I feel that encouraging guilds like this perpetuates an unhealthy negative self-image for some members of the LGBT community. Makes them feel like the world outside of said guild is so incredibly unaccepting of them, that they require said community to enjoy their time in the game.

That's just my two cents, though. Good luck with your guild.

Yes, I noticed something akin to this in World of Warcraft a few years ago and with FFXI even. Proudmoore was the server of choice for Warcraft as Fairy was for FFXI. For obvious reasons. (When I was first recruited on to the Fairy server by my friends I spent a good ten minutes in hysterical doubt that the server name was in fact what it was. Good times. =D )

I don't know of any community exclusive groups but.. For the Glory has a very welcoming atmosphere. If you'd want to know more just PM me. I think that as far as the community goes.. we have a nice wide variety of people, and all of them seem awesome on CH. :) So, you shouldn't run into any problems.. and if you do D: I'll smite em!

By all means, talk dirty. I wouldn't discourage any of your mentioned topics, and would likely participate in them with a flirtatious and somewhat perverted demeanor. However there's a difference between that and actively creating/joining a guild just to get ERP-laid or find someone to hook up with beyond the game, which is what I was trying to touch on as I've seen people come to that conclusion in forums before.

As far as the negative self-image, that's valid perspective and I can appreciate it. However, I wouldn't see it as viewing everyone outside the community to be unaccepting/intolerant as much as I'd see it as a welcoming group of people to become friends with who happen to share similar lifestyles. :)
