I don't know of any community exclusive groups but.. For the Glory has a very welcoming atmosphere. If you'd want to know more just PM me. I think that as far as the community goes.. we have a nice wide variety of people, and all of them seem awesome on CH. :) So, you shouldn't run into any problems.. and if you do D: I'll smite em!

This is what confuses me.
Why must an entire guild cater to something that is a part of people's personal lives; their sexuality.

Acceptance does not mean gathering off in your own little spot and not bothering with guilds like this one (For the Glory) that are friendly towards people in the LGBT community.

Can't we all just...get along? I don't care about a person's sexuality. That is their own business. I am not against the LGBT community at all. I just wish everyone could get along with everyone, be wherever they want to be, free of discrimination...and not need separate hubs like these.
I understand that these places are great for culling more support and being around people that can relate. But...to me it seems silly that we still have to worry about one person being discriminated against because of something so personal; their sexuality.

But that's just me and my two cents.
Here's hoping that the community within Tera are a mature, civil-minded lot.

While some may construe gblt forming our own gblt friendly guild, as wanting to wall off the rest of society, it is not the case. It is simply a place started by some within our community, to provide a safe haven for our community.

While other guilds may provide what they believe is a welcoming place for us, I speaking for myself, from past experience know, that the concerns of gblt members would be less important than whatever the guild leader decided would be his priority... keeping high level members happy..etc.

I have been In a situation where a guildleader on another game, weighed My feelings, against the feelings of an openly homophobic guild member... and decided that he (the Homophobe) needed to have his rear end kissed... because he was level capped.

A guild created by gblt members , to provide a safe haven for... gblt members will have as it's main priority... keeping such people out of the guild... In some other guild... gblt concerns would be secondary, So.. I do think providing a safe haven for gblt players is worth. creating a guild... we will still allow non-gblt to join...we will not discriminate...but... we will also NOT allow people to say " man that was g a y.." as a negative. or to spout anti g a y hate speech under the guise of " well it's My opinion."

There will be a Big sign before you come in saying" keep your anti g a y rhetoric out of this place, we do Not wish to hear it." and that is something our safe haven must provide.

That is what I believe separates a LGBT from others. It's not that we cater to only [filtered] people, but that people know walking in the door that being offensive and rude to others is not tolerated.

Creating a guild like this isn't about separating ourselves from others, but more about letting people know that these issues will be dealt with using the tact and grace they deserve, rather than just putting the needs of the guild before it's individual members.

Overall, I believe that forming a community is important in a MMO, and it is even more important on a roleplay server where the community is a part of the driving force of the content. We can represent a part of that community, and participate just the same as any other guild.

First of all, thank you for responding. This was a good read.

I remember being a part of a guild in WoW where one of my friends who was [filtered], wanted to tell the guild leader he really liked and admired him, but was afraid of facing rejection from the rest of the guild - which in the end, was not the case. But I could understand where he was coming from.

I can understand how beneficial it would have been for him to be in a guild such as this one - and there were a few on the server that were just like this one, but he did not want to be in it. He never really explained why. I came to some conclusions on my own and supported him regardless. We're not very different, after all. -wink-

But at the same time, for me, blending into a normal guild setting where everyone gets along well with everyone else, no matter what their sexuality is and without it being the sign that hangs over the door. I am not defined by my sexuality. I am not defined by the colour of my skin. I am myself. My sexuality is not something I wear on my shirt like a badge, because there is no need to. I never understood people who did that.

Anyway, regardless. I just hope we can all have some fun.

I wish this kind of real world politics did not come into a fantasy game that has swords and elf's.

Seriously. Who cares if someone is [filtered] or straight. It's a video game. By placing your toon in a [filtered] or straight guild you just label yourself and short your RP chance.

If you wish that, then you're going to hate the Vanarch system when it becomes an exploitable way for the largest guilds to gain benefits and stay in power.

Also, by placing our character in a guild known for being part of the LGBTQ community, it will only short us of the RP chances with people who we wouldn't want to RP with, anyway. While on the other hand, it opens us up to RP chances with people similar to ourselves and comfortable with the subject.

Let's say you're very into military RP. You want to RP with other military rp-lovers to create the environment/community you want to be a part of and your character to be in, so you naturally join a guild that's heavy into military roleplay. It doesn't limit you to roleplaying with those people, and it doesn't limit others from roleplaying with YOU. However, if I see you're in the military RP guild and I personally dislike military RP, then I can choose to not engage you in roleplay. SImple as that.

You are entitled to you opinion. No one can force you to believe what you do not believe. If a GLBT guild does not suit you,...don't join :-).

Seriously, who cares if we are g a y or straight?... we do :-) Do I lable Myself by joining a gblt guild? I would hope so. We're Here, We're Queer, Get Used To It!

I believe that until.... being g a y, ...or straight... is as irrelevant as being brown eyed, or blue, we owe it to ourselves to :

1. make sure people realize we exist, and not let outselves be bullied to being in the closet, and that includes MMO's. and...

2. Tell everyone that may be g a y... that they are not alone, not alone in their pain, and heartache when it happens, and Not alone for those happy days that come, and we will be there to celebrate those as well.

If a GBLT guild is Not something you understand or approve of, then that is your opinion, and no one can tell you they are wrong. We feel there is a need for a safe haven, the thread was set up to see if there is enough of a desire, orif enough people feel the same way... obviously many do. Which leads me to ask.....

Why are you here?

You misunderstood my entire post. I wont bother restating it. As for politics in-game, I like that system. I am talking about "real life" not "fake life" or a game.

I would think in the real world the LGBT is not struggling for equality to be able to play a video game. In other words, don't you have more important issues to think about?

And, before I get flamed I am in fact a card carrying Libertarian, I believe in legalizing [filtered] marriage. I want equally rights. Period.

I want to play a game without the feeling of special interest groups breathing down my neck.

How are we breathing down your neck by wanting to come together and play the game with other LGBTQ players? O_o

Well that's just natural, If I'm into Military RP, but join a guild that's lets say Anti-Military RP it's not very fun.

But saying that you want a guild just so you don't have to listen to anti-preference jokes does limit your contact with people. Not every guild out there makes it a priority to make fun of people's sexual preference.

I'm not against an LGBT guild at all, I was an Officer in one on ToR, I've become very best friends with my Kiri who was the guild leader of that guild. I'm straight and will on occasion flirt with everyone in the guild regardless of their sex or sexual preference

Besides not every straight person is oblivious to what the LGBT community goes through. Just most of the LGBT that I know and hang out with don't let words over the internet bring their spirits down.

I see you are on My side, in real life. But In game, you rather not know I am there next to you because ." it's a game"?

Seriously, you skipped everything I said, and went right for that questioon, and never answered it.

This thread was established for people to speak out on whether they feel a GBLT friendly Guild is something that enough people find an interest in supporting... as a safe haven for members of the g a y community. If you feel that this is Not something you wish to be a part of in TERA, then that is your opinion, and you are welcome to it.

Some of us want to support the existence of a GBLT guild to provide a safe haven, We come to this thread to trade ideas, maybe come up with a name etc. so that when the servers go live, those of us interested, know who.. to contact when the servers are up.

This is obviously not you, so i ask again....

Why are you posting such negativity on this thread? Lead, follow, or get out of the way dude.
