Question about Guild VS Guild declaring war

There is another thread where we got a dev post stating that they're looking into a way of bringing GvG to PVE servers. The problem is that as it works now, you don't really get a say in participating if your guild declares war, I think they are trying to create an opt-in situation for those of use that are interested.

I would support GvG on our server with an opt out option. This would give those guilds the opportunity to declare war with those that wish to and allow those that want to sit out of it to be able to.

Wouldn't the opt in be something as simple as both Guild Leaders agree to it? I mean you have the choice of joining a guild that likes to fight other guilds or not.


I would think it would be better for an opt out for those guild members who like the guild they are in, but do not wish to PvP. Meanwhile, those in the guild who do like to PvP can still engage in GvG.

Not a big fan of that idea as it allows one guild to have their opt out people act as scouts that the enemy guild can't do anything about.

I concur. However, there really isn't any difference between that and just having the player switch to an alt and scout around. Same effect.

We'll have to wait and see what conditions will be placed upon the non-PvP-server GvG mechanic, if any.

You do have to remember that this is a PvE server first. People chose this server for a reason. People chose their guilds to play among friends, These friends do not all share the same interest in PvP/GvG.

So, on a PvE server where they would like to introduce GvG to those that would like to participate. It would be wise to allow the player them self the option to choose to GvG with their guild mates or to opt out and continue to play their game on a PvE server like they initially intended.

In any game or real life, there will be spies. Though, it's wrong to assume that simply because some folks in a guild want nothing to do with PvP to label them as spies or to be used as spies. Like the commenter above me said, anyone can just roll an alt and use them as a spy for their own purposes. So to that effect, it really makes no difference whether some members of a guild choose to opt out.

If this is such a great concern, there are PvP servers to join if you prefer an all or nothing sort of GvG play. Although, I would imagine that you yourself chose to roll on Celestial Hills for your own reasons for whatever they may be. I'm sure they;re very good reasons too. The most important thing on our Celestial Hills, Roleplay server is to ensure that those who chose a PvE environment to play among their friends in the guilds they are in to retain that experience free of forced PvP/GvG and/or leaving their guilds simply to play free from that risk.
