After seeing what was posted in the vanarch discussion thread, I became... curious. It seemed like a really fun guild that stands out from the crowd of srsbizniz.

Then I also noticed the ad in their guild listing specifically recruiting for level 60s... I wasn't completely sure what this meant, but it gave me the impression that if I, a newer player in this game with only lower level characters, were to try to apply I would probably be denied or shunned.

I'm still not entirely sure of where I stand but the effort made in this thread defused a lot of my concerns. Still looming over my head though is the question, "who are you?"

Just like what you think we are.
You can tell that from our forum posts and our website.
We like to have fun, and that is the reason why our guild is so successful in retaining our playerbase. We don't need to merge, we don't spam recruitment in game or in forum, people simply want to join us from words of mouth.

We don't pretend to be all "srsbizniz" and promising the same stuff like everyone else.

Lower Taxes? Well of course, this is a free market game. Meaning you go to the best location that offers lower prices on the specialty shop and broker fee.
Why would you pay an additional 100g to enchant your stuff when you can fly down to somewhere else for 10s? Or put an item up with a huge broker fee of 10%?

Open shops, broker, and trainers? Well duh? What...Just leave the town with nothing in it to generate revenue? Is anyone this dumb to do this?

Anyway, what is the point of having the highest praises on the server?
We can convert them into policy points, and keep all these shops open throughout the 3 weeks.
We are also a very active guild, probably one of the most, if not the most, active guild based on playerbase from various lvl ranges.
So doing these vanarch and guild quests are a breeze to us when we need to collect more policy points.

See...Serious stuff...Oh wait, that the same stuff everyone is saying.
Very boring, it is all the same "politic" or rather "fake" stuff people are programmed to write like if this is some serious and real political system.

So yes, we like to have fun and create an enjoyable environment for our guild and for everyone else.
And to be honest, our guild will always be like that.
We don't pretend to take this game "seriously" because we, and probably you, already know in the end this is a game after all.

It is to play with people you like playing with.
It is to join a guild that you believe will be your home.
And overall, it is to have fun and create memories that you will take with you when you leave this MMO sometime in the future.

So to put it bluntly and in a nutshell; We can actually do most of the things that have been promised by each guild ever. We just don't really feel like jumping on the bandwagon of; "Vote for us for lower taxes, all shops open and cures to whatever illness you have!" Sound familiar? Oh yeah, that's what every guild ever is promising.

We got a lot of praise and a lot of dedicated members to keep those policy points rolling in and well, we'd like to see them to good use. Wouldn't you?

As for our recruitment, we take anyone who has bothered to tell us a little a bit of about their selves to Girl or pretty much any of our members. Works best if you grouped up with a guild member or two and they'll most likely vouch for you if you weren't completely horrible. We don't take everyone, but we don't aggressively recruit. It's up to you decide which guild you want in. not us.

We would like you join us because you had fun playing with us, not because you had a million invites slammed in your face the moment you made your character or something.

you`re also pretty famous on urbandictionary, and maybe you`re all amazing, friendly and awesome people, not like i`d know since i don`t, but people gain bad reputations for a reason, otherwise why even associate yourself with it if you weren`t like that?

People hear something negative about a few people and they assume it to be the cookie cutter for everyone else. There are all different kinds of Something Awful users, just as there are many different types of users in every internet community. But one truth stands, it's a group of individuals with almost the same type of humor. This humor does not include screwing over the market and system that would bring absolutely no benefit to themselves, as explained by Daijoubu. "Yeah, higher taxes! So... no one will buy.. from us..." Makes SO much sense.

Enclave (who I will name!) is attempting to throw people under the bus, which wouldn't be such a terrible thing if it wasn't for the fact that they're lying and refuse to prove their claims. Something Awful has always been about quality, not quantity. Anyone who's read the forums and formed their own opinion would know that.

Thanks for the reply. I'd be happy to answer your questions on behalf of Something Terable.

Who are we? Well, we're a guild, like any other. Quite simply, we're just a group of people playing a game together, with the sole hope of having fun. And so far, we feel like we're doing pretty well in pursing this goal.

We're specifically not some sort of insular community whatsoever. We have a *very* diverse community, and we welcome people from all walks of life. Our members hail from all around the world, and login at their own whim to pursue whatever goals they have in mind.

The undercurrent that buoys us and binds us together is a vibrant guild chat and sense of camaraderie that I personally feel is very rare in gaming these days.

As far as our recruitment polices go...

We rarely actively recruit (although we're always eager to meet new potential members). If you see a level/class message in the "Guilds on Server" list, it is meant only to fill holes at the specific requests of our members. It's not at all intended as a general recruitment message.

That said, we're always looking for like-minded individuals to join our ranks! If you apply to our guild and contact our GM, Girl, in-game, we're more than happy to consider you for membership, regardless of your level or class.

We receive many, many applications every day, and we try to review all of them, but the application list in-game is bugged, and we can only see up to 20 applications in the window. If your application is lost within that list, we're sincerely sorry. Your best bet is to contact Girl as soon as you apply so that we don't miss your app! Honestly, Girl is perhaps one of the most friendly and personable individuals whom you will ever meet in a game, so don't be shy to contact her, regardless of what's on your mind. :)

If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to ask, and I'd be happy to address them.

Hmmm, please check your facts. Most of the people defending us are not part of our guild. Why is it you are so worried about us anyway? For ones that claim to keep your mouth shut you certainly go back on your word a lot.

It's in the first post of your thread, from a player in the guild, so you can't really pull a "that's not us saying that" trick. As I said, and it's even in what you quoted, "Enclave is attempting to throw people under the bus, which wouldn't be such a terrible thing if it wasn't for the fact that they're lying and refuse to prove their claims." No one is worried about you, so don't think this is, "oh they're not in first place so they're threatened by us." It's about Enclave running a scare campaign and attempting to be the good guys by saving people from the big ol' baddies that don't exist.

Who said it was our word to keep our mouth shut again? We generally keep a low profile, but it is never a word, or a promise. Some members will voice their opinions, some will not. It's not a hive mind.

Oh, now I get why this Jadorvu person was freaking out in the Enclave thread. He is part of a zerg guild, so he's trying to trash anyone who opposes zerg guilds. Makes perfect sense now. Time to disregard anything that guy says.

As much as it would be awesome to win an election, we are more concerned with keeping those hardcore guilds at bay.

As horribly worded as that first post was.... Nope, I ain't seeing the "OMG Terable sucks" claim.

Agreed. No one in the Enclave thread has called anyone out by name except me. And that's only because the pro-zerg people demanded it and I don't belong to anyone so I don't give a crap what they think of me.

All will be forgiven if SA can restart the Gary Busey thread.

Seriously, HOW could you guys let that die?! :(

(Suggestion: the Busey Bunch. MAKE IT HAPPEN!!!)
