Feral Valley: Public Debate for Vanarch Candidates

Minea Profile Options #1

Welcome to the beginning of the political system in TERA!

Starting today, TERA players who meet certain requirements can register as candidates for vanarch. It's not always easy to convince everyone to vote for you instead of your esteemed opponents, though, so we'd like to provide you with a place to discuss your plans, make campaign promises, and show that you are the best-suited character to become a vanarch.

Think of this thread as a televised debate. Everyone's eyes are on you and they're eager to hear what you have to say. They're all waiting for you to assure them you are their champion, and that you will work to make their lives better in TERA!

So if you are a vanarch candidate on Feral Valley, give a short introduction of yourself and your vanarchy platform. Heck, start an actual debate if you like. Has another candidate said that good vanarchs should look after their guild first? State why you think that's a bad idea! Do you think declaring war against a smaller guild is great way to promote PvP? Make a stance! The people deserve to know what you believe in. If you aren't running this time, this is an excellent opportunity to find out about the candidate to make an informed choice!

Better yet, challenge the other candidates with your own questions! This is a public debate! Here are some sample questions you can use as a starting point for political discussion:

  • What are your priorities for using policy points? Skill trainers? Specialty stores? Raise or lower tax rates first?
  • What would be your agenda as a vanarch? How do you plan to enact this agenda? With force? With rewards? Will your guild members help with enforcement?
  • How do you plan to receive feedback or questions on your rule?
  • If a conflict arises between what's best for the province and what's best for your guild, what will you do?
  • What makes you the best candidate?

This thread is for vanarch candidates to discuss their stances on various political items. Feel free to address other candidates directly and answer their questions, but please remember to follow the official TERA forum rules. We want a healthy and courteous debate, so be respectful to the other candidates. Remember, the public is watching you!

∞ Guild, Infinite
∞ Guild Master, Xiphias
∞ First Officer, Shirayuki
∞ Running for, Val Aureum

My guild and I shall be running for Vanarch of Val Aureum (Arun continent).

Infinite is a guild that desires members who are team oriented, backed by a solid level of personal maturity and offset with a wicked sense of humor. We have roughly 60 members (+20 or so alts which pad our numbers in-game) so you can see that we are the sort of guild that recruits slowly and carefully. This is why we need you and will always appreciate your support.

Members within Infinite all enjoy Player vs. Player at their core and value Player vs. Environment for enjoyment and progression. We are also lucky to have built a foundation that is supportive and helpful, with members often crossing entire continents to assist each other with BAMs, chase off the odd higher level Outlaw and run dungeons.

Infinite believes in taking care of their own and any province we are elected to shall become our home. We will support our province and work to make it the most successful on the continent.

∞ Why does any of this matter to you?

Simple. If you are a player that is levelling your first character or even an alt through any of the provinces of Arun, you will benefit from having Infinite in power. We will support you by enabling skill trainers and specialty vendors & services (such as trade brokers), thus allowing you to level and progress as fast as you're willing to go. If you're worried about the tax rate, I understand. Infinite will maintain a low tax rate within our province and the funds generated from it shall be put back into entertainment in the form of tournaments, deathmatches and other, non-combat related competitions.

∞ What do we desire of you?

Only two things. First, we ask that you seriously consider voting for Infinite in the upcoming election. The second thing we ask is that once we are elected, you continue to support Infinite by going to your Social Menu, navigating to Guilds on server and searching for Infinite. Then select the Praise option. This can be done once a day and will give us a bonus in the policy points we will require to ensure that our province is upgraded to its very limits.

∞ How will we ensure that you can have your say?

We shall do this by both receiving feedback from you in game directly, and by allowing you the chance to contact us via less direct, but more assured means on these forums and our own guild website.

∞ What will we prioritize first?

We will begin by enabling Skill Instructors & Teleport Masters as soon as possible. Following from that we will be looking to employ Brokers and Clerics. Specialty Stores are a potential third priority, but this is subject to change depending on what other options are available.

Regards,
Xiphias

Well neato! Something to fill out at work! Yes, that's right, I take time out of my tedious work schedule because you're all soooo much more important /endcheeseyline

How shall we begin....

Outt

Feral Valley
Running for Northern Shara

Why am I running?
Power!!!! easy question! Next....I kid. Basically, politics is this backstabby stabby, run around in circles, constant under speculation type of ordeal that I've been interested in since Tera was first shown to me. How much cooler is it to be looked up to as the head of a province? How much more can you be held under a magnifying glass, every move speculated on, while both being admired and sought after for easy assassination gains. Of course, the mounts and awesome item perks are always a plus, BUT, I am indeed here to see how far we can push this, and I'm doing it not just for myself, but my Guild as a whole, to show you that we're willing to work to make this a fun time for everyone involved.

Agenda:
Eat potato chips and watch the province run onto chaos didn't seem like an acceptable answer, so plan B! We're willing to work with you, if you help work with us. One of the higher priorities of being a Vanarch guild is getting those policy points, they're like Vanarch crack...and boys and girls, Daddy likes his Cocaine. No, but in all seriousness, if you help praise us, we're all willing to take that extra time, the little bit of oomph and get those points, keep shops open, and go by what you all want to see. If a specialty vendor is most important to the majority, BAM, done, and it'll stay open, as we spend our time keeping the points a pouring in.
Taxes, oh the dreaded teaparty, will be in effect, I won't lie...but I'm not looking to rob you blind. We're a smaller guild, and we have enough to invest into running, so that's all I ask in return, running costs, I swear to not embezzle all the tax gold! I'm not sneaky enough for that! I can't give you a direct amount, but I CANdo the math and average what it'll cost give or take to raise the 3k gold, so I can keep running in future elections! Cuz I'm just that kewl!(who spells it like that anymore, I'm looking at you 14 yr olds!)

What I'd like from you:
Help me, Help you. In short, give me the oppurtunity to show you that I'm willing to lead not only a strong, dependable and mature social guild, but a province as well, on the same basic principles of my guild. Respect. That's honestly all it boils down to. I'm willing to go to lengths to keep you happy, but we do need your help in doing so. Daily praising, but ONLY if you see fit. You don't think I'm doing a bang up job? Tell me, criticize me for future knowledge, and don't praise. If I'm not doing everything accordingly, I don't deserve it, but I ask you toss me that chance.

I'm not one of those OMG anti-PvP, or yes camp the level 7's woo this is fun! I'm also running for a high level zone where this doesn't play into the cards much. Everyone should be of the same average level, and there will be players around if need be, I have tons of members invested in the PvP aspect of this game, and even myself. If you've ever been in a GvG war with us, you'd likely have seen that I don't hide on a level 1 alt, or even in town, but with the high chance of giving up 10 pts, I prefer to be out in the action. I'm not just a pretty figurehead, I'm out there with my people! Where would the fun be otherwise?

Well, in short, and aside from all the terribly un-funny jokes throughout, I really do hope you consider me. Ask me any questions, any arguments you want to start, and base it off my answers if you so choose. That's what a debate is all about in all honesty. Wanna know my stance on foreign Wars? Abortion? [filtered] Marriage? Go for it, I'm all answers(open myself up to a lot of pain here)

Thanks,
Outt

Edit: /Wave Xi! Debate shall ensue! What are your thoughts on Elin dressing in public? GO!

Sufficient is our Vanarch candidate, vote for him.

â—˜ We not only support but encourage player run and developer events.

Name: Sheskaa
Guild: Incom Corporation
Province: Northern Shara

Incom Corporation has been extremely interested in the Politics system from the start and we plan on running election after election. We are choosing Northern Shara, simply because it is a high level zone. Our guild members play for end game content and that is where most of it seems to be. We actively participate in GvG and welcome challengers.

Why am I running?

I am running because I'd hate to see a zone not live up to it's full potential, as an experienced GM, I believe I can create a zone that players will want use. Honestly, I could care less about special mounts and little trinkets. My main goal is to make the zone fun and enjoyable for the PvPers.

What will I be doing as Vanarch?

I plan on opening all specialty vendors or merchants in the zone. I don't want people to have to travel zone just to use a particular vendor. PvP will be enabled in the zone and encouraged. In fact, PvP will be my priority. Myself and my officers will do our best to organize events in the area. I also discourage ganking of lower levels, unless it's for a GvG, war is war. There may also be other options that I'm unaware of and we will prioritize them as the community see's fit.

What can you do?

Simply throw me a vote! Also, if anyone has feedback or things they would like to see happen in the zone, feel free to message me. You can also check my stream or message me on our website if you want to chat with me outside the game.

Actually it said "please do not" and we had some GvG flare up while I was writing it out. I took it more as a request and not a demand.

I think Minea will be okay with it since I got distracted by GAME POLITICS. You see we care about PLAYING the game more than we do about forum posts.

Our policy points will be focused on keeping the territory open and out of the hands of baddies.

after which, you went on to say:

â—˜ We support and encourage PVP, GVG, PK, PVE, and anything else not mentioned.

So, from your guilds pov, define "baddies." I'm honestly curious, since you said you not only support but also encourage people to Play the game how you want to play the game.

revengeance on 05/19/2012, 10:35 PM

â—˜ We not only support but encourage player run and developer events.

Care to expound upon this in a little more detail? Especially the player run and developer events part. Does your guild, under the assumption that Sufficient is elected, have any intent or plans for hosting such events in one of the 2 provinces you've chosen to campaign for? and how would you "encourage" other players/guilds to do the same? and by support, does this mean that Protocol would be willing to fund or supply needed players in order to insure the success of such player run and developer events?
