Anyone worried about the lack of closed beta people on the new servers--Frost Reach being one of them? I have no doubt population of Frost Reach will increase during OB & live, but by definition those players won't be people that played the CB/pre-orders, so they will have less Tera experience.
At the moment I'm planning on being guild-less so I'm thinking about quality of PUGs. I guess the LFD tool being cross-server makes this somewhat less relevant, but just curious what other think.
Yeah, I'm wondering if people just haven't created a character yet or not forum posting because Frost Reach is looking pretty desolate compared to the threads and posts in other server forums.
I'd personally much prefer to run with people from my own server; I vastly prefer to have a community, make friends and such, than deal with randoms you never see again in LFD, but having it there when it's just impossible to form a group is a nice option.
However, I think the existing servers from beta where most people are flocking will be oversaturated. Thus why I chose FR. Neatest sounding name of the launch servers, and not going to have the crowding of the CB named servers.
I think there will be enough people spreading out for it to not be a problem; there are already several guilds recruiting here in the forums, so there's obviously going to be community developing. However, like you, I plan to run guildless until I can see how guilds end up being ingame. I'm not particularly keen on joining one pre-launch, as I'd rather see what they're made of and how they act. If I meet some running instances or doing BAM quests or something, and like them, then that's when I will consider joining, if they ask.
But yeah, don't worry about it; there will be plenty enough people on all of the launch servers. If server populations thin too much EME will just merge them, not really anything to fret over.
I wouldn't worry about "experience". Even some closed beta people arent experienced past level 30 anyways. After the first week of launch, the "experience" factor will be non-existent.
I didn't preorder and was in the CBT, it got me to preorder. :) Besides, the OBT code is just PLAYTERA, and I'm pretty sure it's all over the web now.
Anyway, there's always a learning curve, we're going to all be leveling up to 60 at the same time, and we can't say we're good at the game when we've only been around half way through it.
By the time people level themselves up, they'll be pretty decent, and since noone will be power-leveling (since there's no one to run them) they'll actually learn how to play!
TL:DR: By the time you're max level and really need good players, there will be no shortage of those you need.
Having less people isn't necessarily a bad think especially when it comes to questing dont know how many times I had to wait for a monster to respawn cause they had been wiped out from other people.
If you ask me, I think it's a wonderful idea rather than a bad one.
As it stands, other realms will suffer from an over abundance of pre-order/RAMBO players and ignore trying to build or ask anything leaving room for trolls to run the show.
Here, while few will be more close knit and better to help new people by showing them the ropes leading to prosperity in all locations across the board. Smaller places are more fun because everyone knows everyone and everyone will work with everyone so the jokes and fun times can keep going
I'm looking forward to having a smaller community on this server. By the looks of the threads on this sub-forum, I can already tell that the majority have a good attitude and seem to be very nice. :3
I don't mind if the server is a small community, as long as we're A+ in personality and awesomeness. I'd prefer a close knit one, where I know a lot of people and stuff.
Then again, I don't really have to worry about finding a group since my friends all seem to be making Lancers and Healers. We'll be the ones going "WTB DPS!"
