1-40 Revamp was a lie: It's beginning to feel like a grind because the quests are so terrible

The questing is just completely awful. The lore of an area is not focused and the story quests are terribly uninteresting. I'd rather all the quests in a region focus around one major arch. I'm level 38, and I am beginning to realize that the entirety of this game is just killing one mob group after another. Where is the variation? Gathering quests? A few escort and teleporting quests? None of it is challenging or visceral besides the BAM quests but then again, I'm just killing with no believable reason. The world is beautiful and the action is wonderful, but the world lacks a soul. The developers lied when they said they were revamping 1-40.

The reviews all point to this major lacking feature. If pvp was present and player-generated pvp content was viable, meaning it had a purpose, less people would feel progression was pointless. I really love TERA, and really want to subscribe for the long-term, but I don't know if I can push myself to 60 with no BGs in the near future and no meaningful progression. I love the art and the combat, but everything else is just so poorly tacked on it makes me feel like this game is a hack and slash one-time purchase game.

The quests and lore need to seriously be reworked. I don't mean rewriting. I mean reprogramming of the entire questing system. Give the npcs chat bubbles and the players options, or make enemy groups invade an outpost once in a while. I'd rather have less, more meaningful quests, than hundreds of paltry ones.

I feel that story is one of the most important part of any RPG, whether players can create it in a sandbox (pvp, politics --> but to be quite frank, the Vanarch system is poor and players can only set taxes/maybe enable pvp in a region nothing to write a Game of Thrones novel about). TERA needs story. Stop writing those stupid short stories and put something wonderful and moving in TERA.

TL;DR
TERA needs better quests/story or more meaningful progression through player-generated PVP (BGs, Guild War incentives) to make going to 60 less monotonous. Please.

ALSO, WHY ARENT THE DEVS COMMUNICATING WHAT IS IN DEVELOPMENT!? WHERE IS OUR ROADMAP? If people know about things to come, they'd be more inclined to stay I'm sure. Half the people don't even know BGs are planned.

This

Also. They did revamp 1 - 40 a lot. The levelling experience was much different from the CBTs. Plus if you were to actually read the quest flavour text you would see that most of them DO follow a common theme.

If you want something different I hear Skyrim is making an MMO that is just for you.

Each area does follow a theme, it just doesn't seem to resolve itself in any meaningful way, if at all.

I pay attention to the zone quests and the stories are fairly interesting, nothing amazing, typical mmorpg writing. The quest variety could use a lot of work though.

Story quests are somewhat interesting, Fraya just become the ____, and now I need to go kill ____.

And zones side quests often follow themes, like some have to do with getting mining resources back another would be a plague in the area and you need to kill monsters infected. Nothing great but there's still themes amongst the Kill X quests.

To alleviate the grind feeling, queue up for dungeons and go PvPing, try not to do too many side quests and stick to the story.

Toodles.

Well take your pick...it doesn't make good business sense to make an MMO that doesn't feel like your playing "WHACK a MOLE" (WoW, RIFT, etc)and to have a quest system that doesn't feel like your playing connect the dots(Tera). C'mon man...it's a tough economy..don't ask for so much. There has to be short cuts and falts to keep jobs employed and to make release dates.

I am being sarcastic!

The game just came out, give it some time, all mmo's need time, first build a community then build around that, dont wanna just add random stuff into it... and first get a King and set up the economy, then the game will kick in.

Give us a year old game from another country that we've heard so much news from and some of us have played and a lot of peoples expections will be set extremely high for the game right at the beginning.

When you are importing said game and you water it down there is bound to be rage. Edit some quests, remove some blood, change elins clothing, censor a certain questline to indoctrinate someone etc etc.

The questline in the NA/EU versions is so watered down and some of it even censored and altered that it anit worth reading. Do your fetch quests to 60 don't read this crap pretty much.

As for something besides fetch quests.... isn't that what all RPGs are? Fetch Quests? Skyrim - Kill this guy. Kill this Dragon. Grab this item. Put on these cloths. WoW - Kill him. Kill this player. Talk to this NPC. Get my families 100G treasure back and I'll give you bread. So on in that fashion.

Then there is the FPS issue and I can't use Crossfire or SLI properly? Lol right.

In short this game was bound to have a large group of people be disappointed. We saw Korea. We expected that. It comes to America. We get this. In short... delaying the game and giving us everything that Korea has (uncensored unedited) woulda made this game a lot more successful.
