Currently the biggest problems with TERA's endgame are:
A lack of variety of dungeons to run. Only 3, with one of them being inaccessible via dungeon finder so most people don't know it exists.
Each wipe is super expensive due to...
An extreme lack of a semi-reliable way to obtain crystals, which drives up the prices of them to an insane amount.
After running the 3 dungeons, your only option is to run the same 3 dungeons in hard mode versions.
Only 2 of the 3 end game dungeons drop direct upgrade for you. This means that each end dungeon boss has a loot table of either:
FoK 8 non enigmatic weapons and at least 3 Enig chest pieces, 3 enigmatic gloves and 3 enigmatic Boots, along with 6 normal boots, gloves and chest pieces. This does not include special drops which seem to take a slot in the loot drop (like deathmarrow) and rings and the such
BT At least 8 Enig weapons, 8 non-enig weapons and 6 normal boots, gloves and chest pieces.
This means after running FoK, you only have a 1 out of 12 chance to get your enigmatic chest, accounting for the times that he drops no enigmatic gear.
An example of this: I am going onto my 15th FoK run and I have never seen an enigmatic leather chest piece drop. But I have a friend on another server that have seen only enigmatic leather chest pieces drop. By complete luck, we ended up in a group together via dungeon finder, and that was the only time he did not see a enigmatic chest piece drop. At this point, it is not the randomness of the drops which are the issues, it is the completely massive amount of drops that each end boss have on their tables.
There are a few things you can do. You can: spread loot more evenly among the dungeon bosses. I.E Have a single boss drop the enigmatic gloves, another drop the enigmatic boots, and the last drop the chest piece in FoK. And within BT, have a certain boss drop a certain set of enigmatic weapons, another boss drop a certain set of enigmatic weapons and the last boss drop an enigmatic weapon.
The issue with that idea is it will cause a massive inflation of enigmatic items into the market and empower more players to power through end game, thus diminishing the value of the end game.
I have a proposal that will fix every thing listed above, while providing more end game content. The good thing is that you'd only have to tweak existing content. You wont need to program or create any new boss encounters, and it will allow you to use underused content.
There are currently 3 dungeons that most hate and usually run only once or never. These are all outdoor dungeons and are meant for questing, so the bosses drop nothing of any value to a player of the respected level. And simply put, the end bosses are plain hard; with mechanics which wont be seen again until level 60 dungeons, hard modes and Kelisks nest (to an extent.)
Every day there are post complaining about people who were unable to finish those dungeons or who wont run those dungeons because it's not worth it. Truth be told, they have a point, because each of those dungeons are placed at an awkward point in the story and they never follow the +2 levels pattern of the other dungeons. So the loot is always too miniscule to make up for the challenge.
Here is what you can do to fix all of that and above:
Either convent all of them to level 60 dungeons. This wont be an issue because without fail the is another dungeon within 3 levels of their brackets. An alternative would be to create a level 60 “hard mode†of those dungeons which are only hard mode in name only. They would should be just as hard as normal FoK and BT.
This would instantly solve the lack of diverse content, especially because all 3 of those dungeons have completely different landscapes. But how to get people to run these dungeons?
You can easily create major incentives to run these with 3 easy steps:
1)Give the trash in these dungeons a relatively high chance to drop crystals. Also give each boss a 100% chance to drop crystals. That would instantly fix the crystal issue. Keep in mind that there is no crystal issue in the Korean version of TERA because of lucky eggs and boxes of steal your things and disappear.
2)Give each of the lass bosses in these dungeons a specific chance to drop a specific type of enigmatic gear. For example; Sigil lvl 60 can have a 100% chance to drop enig gloves and a small chance to drop enig boots along with other enchanting fodder. Acent lvl 60 can have a 100% chance to drop enig boots, with a small chance to drop enig gloves along with other enchanting fodder. Suryati lvl 60 can have a 100% chance to drop an Enigmatic chest piece along with other enchanting fodder.
3)This one is optional. But create an entire tier / set of gear which is strictly enchanting fodder. I.E: They sell to vendors for a pitiful amount of gold or silver, but they are tier 12, so they satisfy the requirements enchanting gear. This would also fix enchanting to some extent because when you run out of gold gear, just run any of the 3 dungeons.
But this would leave FoK fubared and nobody would run it because there would be a higher chance of getting loot from the other dungeons. That too is a simple fix. Allow Kaprima to also drop enigmatic weapons along with his current loot table. And chance the last boss of BT to also drop random enigmatic pieces.
TL;DR
Change Sigil Adstringo, Acent of Savarash and Suryati's Peak to level 60 Dungeons. Give the trash a high chance to drop crystals and the bosses 100% chances to drop crystals and the last bosses a 100% chance to drop a specific piece of enigmatic gear. Allow FoK's last boss to also drop enigmatic weapons while allowing BT's last boss to also drop Enig armor. That way: There would be a reliable way to get crystals, easier to farm for enchanting fodder, and you'd have a 1 in 3 chance of getting what you want instead of a 1 in 8. Because you would be running 5 dungeons instead of the same 2, it would take the exact same amount of time to get gear, and if you disapprove of it, you can stick to running BT and FoK for all of your items so its a win/win for everyone.
If you guys approve of this I will create a petition on another website and add the link to the end of this post to see if we can get more support for it.
If you do not approve of it, why not?
