Someone had said it already works with TERA actually. So I was wondering what the heck it's tracking since the in-game combat logs show next to nothing.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ haha... Huxer claimed it did. I am been waiting for an answer.

The guy that said said it would work a few posts later. He didn't have plugin to make it work with Tera.

So he was just bull[filtered]ting.

But as for tracking, yeah we can't get a breakdown on which attack is constituting our top dps, and which attacks should be phased out. But that is where theorycrafting comes in.

There are no ACT plugins for TERA. What I read someone stating is that TERA does not save combat logs as other games do, they're only kept in memory.

So the question is, If act tells you everything you already know, then is it really being that helpful? I mean Would fighting the fight and paying attention to the damage you area dealing not be a better way to go about it? the paying attention part would really give you More info then act could ever give you, since the logs really don't record much.

The problem isn't only with the elitist, but with EVERYONE. A DPS meter introduces a domino effect that ultimately kills the game, just as it happened with WoW and other similar games where this feature existed:

1 - DPS Meter is introduced. People stop getting judged for their capacity to stay alive and still do decent dmg, but for their ability to DISH OUT 1337 DPS.

2 - Priorities change. suddenly dodging attack X or Y becomes less important because it'll hurt DPS

3 - Healers start to have serious mana problems from healing DDs who care first about DPS, and second about their HP bar. (and they NEED to. sub-par (I mean, non-awesome) DPS can get them kicked out of the group)

4 - Wipes. Lots of them. Tank curses healers, healers curse DDs, DDs curse everybody. Massive outcry on the forums about the game being too hard and only hardcore guilds who play 10 hours a day being able to clear content.

5 - EME listens to the massive QQ and eventually nerf the dungeons to oblivion. PvE content becomes very easy as to accomodate for this playstyle the community addopted.

6 - More outcry because the PuGs formed through the LFD STILL can't clear content. EME introduces ridiculous buffs on parties made through the LFD so it can compensate for the lack of coordination of such groups. This incentives ppl to use only the LFD, even parties made of guildmates will use the LFD now and just blow through the dungeons.

7 - PvE content as a whole becomes ridiculously and absurdly easy, even hard modes. In fact, hard modes becomes the "normal" mode, and regular mode is completely and utterly disregarded. People just burn through them ASAP to farm gear/gold/marks. speed becomes esencial. No more challenge, just grinding. Game is officially broken.

There will always be two sides to this coin. This person took the time to write it out and i couldn't agree more. Well written Alexskylark.

I just don't see how a DPS Meter is so necessary in TERA when the game relies more on "dodging" and staying alive. I thought the whole point of everyone liking TERA was to get away from that "32.33 (repeating of course)" chance of survival bs that goes on in other TAB 123 titles.

As I said before in the other "metre" thread, a Damage GIven:Damage Taken Ratio stat would be more telling.

If there is a DPS Meter implemented in game expect this:

So we finally came to an issue we both agree upon, huh, Mr. Re-Fa#-La?

What ACT would give you is a convenient way to gauge your DPS. Raw damage is meaningless, damage over time is where useful information lies. While you could go back, sift through the logs and manually calculate this yourself, surely an automated process would be preferable.

And when bosses have enrage timers that your group is failing to meet then what?

Everyone is too focused on dodging and not doing enough damage. What do you do?

Tell them to do more damage. What happens when just saying "Do more damage" doesn't work?

Who is doing the most? Who is doing the least? Who is playing it safe way to much?

These are all things that ACT will tell you, from your damage done, to your group members, to damage taken from the boss.

"The boss died, and no party deaths... but you guys killed him in 5 minutes as opposed to 3. DPS Metre is definitely needed." =\

If Everyone is focused on dodging and not doing enough damage, it will take longer. Don't need a "metre" to tell you that.

DPS meter won't help somebody do more damage. Efficient dodging pattern to get back into a safe position will.

Who is doing the most = Who Cares

Who is doing the least = The Priest or Mystic

These are things that anybody who has eyeballs can tell without that silly tool.

This DPS Meter is so people can stroke E-Peen in game and on forum. This is so the same simpletons can make videos like this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ae2cAiIWuDE

It promotes number padding, macro'ing, and cheating not task completion. It promotes DPS based dungeon drop prejudice. It has more social cons than pros.

The OP might want it personally for good reasons but is clearly not thinking about how it can be abused. Go figure out how to find the information you need and run it through an excel spread sheet or something. Share it amongst your guild mates. Those variables do NOT need to be thrown in to the game GUI.
