Am I the only one?

I feel as though, by reading these forums, there isn't much love anymore on the boards and that I am the only one that actually enjoys the game. I have a very strict way of looking at games too! (When it comes to MMOs) Let me break is down for everyone.

1. I make sure it has a good core. If the core game isn't fulfilling and doesn't give me that motivation to be good, it isn't going to last in my eyes.

2. I look at the dedicated fan base. Tera has a lot of L1/L2 players in the community, as well as a good amount of Aion/Final Fantasy XI(And XIV) players. People from other games are also dedicated fans of course, but the point is Tera actually has a good enough dedicated fan base that it shouldn't have problems in the long run.

3. The PvP End game and the PvE end game. Right now both don't have that much to do, but the systems that they do have at the moment actually work for the most part. This goes for not only fun, but gameplay. This does not count towards gear and loot drops in PvE, as those are currently low, but as to the core gameplay in which it is backed by.

The PvP, when combined with the combat system, has huge potential and truthfully will be a huge success once some GvG things change and the Battlegrounds are released. PvP always has a very dedicated community in its own, so as long as the BGs, GvG, and open world PvP is done right, everything should be okay there.

Judging by the dev trackers/reddit AMA, they are working on giving incentive to players to want to go out and GvG and World PvP. No game dev can appeal to everyone instantly, so this "I want this now or I will quit" mentality needs to go. If you don't like the game as is, just level an alt, or take a break and come back when it is all fixed. The point is everything will be fixed eventually, according to the devs, so why not calm down and just play the game for what it currently is.

Now PvE is a different story. The PvE in this game actually works. Are the drop rates low? Yes, but they said without a shadow of a doubt, they are increasing the end game drop rates on bosses and such. The game of course will have its glitched and bugs, but every game in the world has that. They get fixed constantly and the big game breaker bugs never last more than 2 weeks max. PvE is a lot easier to please the community, in my opinion, simply because questing and leveling always revolves around PvE to begin with. Their PvE and combat system is absolutely great, but people are just frustrated that there isn't enough content.

Content in any game is always a problem, because people have different paces. People who play this game constantly and want to be the very best in the game will always complete things faster than the rest. The problem with that is that they are getting their wish. They are become some of the best players, but then running out of things to do. If content is rushed by the devs to release, this goes for any MMO, and it is released before it is ready, the devs will have more complaints and people quitting than they do for not releasing content. Content needs to be done right, so people should just level an alt or just take a minor break from the game, until there is more to play.

Not everyone has completed their gear sets or all of the current content. Please don't ruin it for the rest of us.

4. The community. The community for the most part is actually decent. I know a lot of people will disagree with this, but when playing the beta and the first week of the release (Before people have rushed through the game to do all of the content instantly) the community was actually great.

Trolling exists in all games, as do people who just are plain rude on the forums / LFG chat / Area chat. The only way to fix that is to not do it. Just don't "Feed the trolls" and just stick to talking to the nicer people in the community. The community can't be "Fixed" unless the community actually changes. We are the community, so when someone new joins the game and the forums and all they read is I hate this and I hate that and I hate this person... It makes us look like people who are obsessed with High School drama.

I am not saying "Don't voice your opinions", but do it in a nicer/constructive way. This game does need some fixing and the community can help fix it, but calling devs and players out and saying horrible things to them, doesn't help the community or the devs any. Just think before you type and try and be an adult about it, so the game can be better for everyone.

I know I won't convince everyone with this, plus most people haven't even read this far, but if more people in the community actually were more constructive, the game might be in a better state. Negativity and impatience is a cause of a lot of people quitting. "Oh, my friend said this game is bad, so I am quitting." (Except a lot more cursing involved)

TL;DR Version:
Tera has a great backing and has huge potential to be a great game. Lets not let another great game die because of impatience and immaturity.

Thank you to those who read the entire thing! ^_^

I agree with you mister OP! but if only people could commit to trying to help. Most people don't try to help fix the community case most people are just lazy to going about it. Now if only more people read the forums too..

The people in-game aren't who I am worried about, they are in-game playing it. The forums are a bit different than that.

I love the hell out of Tera's combat system, but I won't pretend the RNG enchanting is anything but abysmal.

Which is completely fine! I promote voicing your opinions, but do it in a mature manner. (Not saying you personally aren't, just speaking in general)

The game does need some fixing, but raging on the forums doesn't help or solve anything.

But then what would happen if everyone just stayed silent? Nothing would change, everyone would slowly quit, and EmE wouldn't know why. The worse thing anyone could do for the game is stay silent.

Take FFXIV for instance. All the 'Rage' that happened in those forums is the reason why there is more than just guildleves to do now, and no longer a broken jumbled crafting system, and clear defined class/job roles, I could go on. All these things got 'Forum rage', from me as well.

I can say I played a big role with my forum rage. Tiering the crafted items by their materials was one of my suggestions, and it got done. Consolidation of gathered materials by reducing the amount of logs that can be gatherd - done. Getting rid of +1 and +2 gathered materials - done.

Nothing happens if you stay silent.

And if nothing happens when you get vocal, it's time to leave.

I'll rant with you.

The combat and boobs are carrying the game. That may soon run out. Problem here, isn't the endgame or lack thereof, but rather the game model and the exposure of grind.

In the modern endgames, one can play for months doing pretty much the same things: instances, dailies, leveling alts, crafting and helping new players, etc. It's generic and dull however other games are good at masking the grind and repetition.

Tera exposes the grind. Quests, including dailies are poorly written, making the player feel frustrated. Go to continent, kill bams, com back talk to npc, then to other npc, and back again to that npc..who wrote this crap? Needles to say most ingame quests are like that which doesn't help.

Instances are laggy, buggy, and the fact endgame instances require groups which exposes a huge oversight - lack of tanks. Long queu time, tank elitism. Sure one can say it's the players fault for not picking up lslack. Really? Guy who tanks with large stick is supposely desirable for all to play? With another tank class available that would aleviate the exposure.

RNG is hurting this game to no end. Ya I got +9s and all but to be subjective, I can understand why people don't want this. Do instances fifty times each? Yes because I don't mind hardwork, but the win in the end means total reliant on luck - pray that boss will drop, pray that I win the roll - all about luck. Now go grind cash & fodder to enchant - once again all about luck.

Risk vs. Luck exposes the stupidly grindacious basis of the endgame.

No, I'm not asking for easy - I want a challenge. Chasing pillars that run around the room is challenging (even though it's a bug). Pressing a button hoping for the best is NOT challenging. It's stupid.

The last patch, they nerfed rep crystals. They added T11 to endgame instances. Wtf for? We need UI fix, instance fix, Nexus fix, maybe something to help the stupid enchantment system, how about crafting? How about making the vanarch system better than some stupid grind? ToT anyone?

T11 drops and nerf crystals, that shoudl do it. Who came up with this crap?

Now it seems the newly promoted diggity is all about BG. Right. Since when did the PvP crowd ever managed to competently carry a game?

I want the game to do well. Combat and boobs it is. However I can't see this game doing well in the future.

I am a tank and I agree right now there is a shortage of tanks. They have 2 classes that can tank, even though it is harder as a Warrior by a lot, but it isn't really their fault that people aren't rolling tanks. That is more of a community thing.

RNG does hurt the game, but the grind doesn't actually kill a game. People raid every single week and heroic grind for max valor/badges(Pre cata)/Gear/Rep constantly in WoW. If you think about how much people actually grind for gear in WoW it is actually more than Tera.

The enchanting is a grind I can understand complaining about, as it combines grinding AND RNG, which is extremely frustrating. In the AMA, they said they are in the midst of creating a solution that will benefit everyone in the long run though.

Loot is being changed next patch so it has increased drop chances, so that shouldn't be too much of a problem, it will be as hard to get loot for your character as it is for WoW, which isn't that bad. I don't have a problem running instances/raids multiple times in order to get perfect gear, but once I get it, I don't like having to use RNG and more grinding to upgrade them. That I do agree with, but hopefully they keep true to their word and change that. They already changed it once, to make it so the item doesn't ever go down anymore, so no reason they can't change it again.

Bugs are being fixed constantly and they have been keeping true to their "Every 2 week patch" promise, so hopefully the big game breaking bugs, like the ones on bosses, will be fixed next patch. I can't really say much on that.

Dailies are pretty bad. The quest development is by far their weakest asset in my opinion. They need to make reasons to go out and do fun dailies and make it feel less like a grind. They need to rework this entire system and make new and entrancing ideas for quests. I 100% agree with you there, sir.

PvP won't carry a game, but it adds something to do, that is always a huge community in itself, until the PvE, and the rest of the game, is in a better place.
