Appearance Modification: Disappointed

I was under the impression that we would be able to combine any pieces of armor together to get the look we wanted to. Instead, it looks like we can only use certain armor templates off of a vendor. Will there at least be a way to unlock templates of the really fancy armor from the harder endgame stuff? Like attaining the actual set or something? I know many will say why would you need to mod the highest statted stuff anyway, just wear it.. but the level cap will raise eventually and that stuff will become obsolete, or new gear will come out that is better from a new encounter, or maybe even let's say you're a Lancer but you like the looks of the set that has stats designed for a Berserker. That kind of stuff.

Also, dyes only lasting 1 day or 7 days.. that feels rather unnecessary and tedious. That's the kind of stuff that should have been changed in westernization.

In regard to the dye problem, the temporary dye you're talking about is a quick way to change your color without having to really commit to anything. There are permanent dyes in the game that you have to either make or get lucky and get them from eggs.

I'm glad there is a perma dye, I was unaware of that
I don't like the armor modification system either. I was expecting more like what Aion had and what WoW is doing.

Agreed, and thank you KortezXero for that information about the dyes. At least there are some permanent ones out there.

No problem mate. I do agree, I'm not fond of the armor modification system either I would much rather have something similar to what was done in DCUO. What ever piece of armor you equipped was added to that character's costume list that you can change at will no matter what gear you're wearing stat-wise. I'm a fan of being able to change your look when the mood strikes. I don't know if they will offer more templates but I would like to see a lot more choices when the game goes retail at least.

Have you tried crafting?

ALL crafted gear can be used as templates.

Having said that, I don't think you can make all the different models with crafting, at least based off the recipes from the vendors in velika.

I haven't confirmed this but I hope its true, that alone is one good reason to level crafting.

On the Korean version, they released a patch where all <58 gear can be used for customization.
