Atari's response to the CE

And for my third time saying they do not deal with retail customers, it was in response to:

"So no customer has the right to send them a query on when they can expect a retailer to get a product, that's what you're telling me right? That is a really ridiculous business practice if that's your point. Americans have a strange way of doing business."

I was directly replying to a question that was posed to me. That's trolling?

So I registered to Atari's website and submitted a query on the status of physical CEs being distributed to retailers. Below is my ticket.

Dear Atari Support Representative.

It has come to my attention that your company is in charge of the distribution of the game Tera to retailers in the U.S.

My question is when can I expect Amazon.com to get the physical version of Tera's Collector's Edition? I've been checking the website multiple times a day in hopes of seeing it up for pre-order but alas each time I've met with disappointment.

Also, I would like to know if your company has distributed beta access keys to Amazon.com yet. If the CE won't be available till near Tera's launch I'll consider preording the standard edition so I can have beta access.

Below is the Atari's personnel's response.

Thank you for contacting us

In this case we are only a publisher, I suggest you go to the official website for the game in order to get further assistance with this questions.

Thank you

Atari Support

Sincerely,

Atari Customer Support

What the heck is this crap? I was under the impression that the publisher is the one in charge of distribution of the game in a region. I was not pleased with this response, it seems they don't even know what's going on and in the end EME will get all the blame.

both companies are giving us customers the run around and blaming each other. here's a post from a thread complaining to EME about when we'll get CE.

Greetings Alesiana,

Currently, the physical version of the TERA Collectors Edition is not listed with various retailers yet, but please keep in mind this will be updated very soon as the physical distribution of TERA will be handled by Atari! So please keep checking back with EB Games on the availability of the physical Collectors Edition!

Please note that we don't have any control over the speed in which the various retailers update their inventory, but rest assured that we're working with Atari to get that resolved as quickly as possible!

Good post to go along with the Ops. It just shows the blame game back and forth. It's not good for US the customers In either case.

anyone besides me notice that you can purchase the physical CE from Ataris website?

@ValkyrieLaw: That's why I cannot be bothered waiting for Amazon, or any other retailer. Though, going through En Masse is a bit more expensive... having to pay Tax along with Shipping.. came up to around 94~95 USD.

yeah it's just sad. Honestly at this rate what will kill Tera will be shoddy CS and blame games like this. I'm actually questioning whether retailers will actually get their physical boxes in time to ship/give to customers come release.

I'm not one to yell doom and gloom and from the highest mountain, but honestly I'm tempted with the way things are going

That's... interesting.... :o

Seems like it's actually sold by Digital River though, same as EME store.

the fact that you "had" to do that is unacceptable though. I'm really worried that by the time whoever is responsible, since both companies are blaming each other, gets everything together there won't be any more CEs to buy

Unless the CE contains some really hard to manufacturer item, they rarely run out. They're there to make extra money, after all. Manufacturers wouldn't knowingly limit them.

You didn't "have" to do anything. You have plenty of time to order a physical CE, and they've already said they're working on it. What more do you want? It's not like EME can just get up and go "YO ATARI YOU GUYS BETTER GET YO ASSES IN GEAR" and make it happen.
