Attempts at "Westernization" are making TERA worse not better.

alkoholiks on 04/11/2012, 07:24 PM
ya thats right u cant.. next troll plzzzz 2 ez

what, did you seriously just sit there for a minute refreshing your screen awaiting my response? lolololololololol wooooow XP

but i guess i should rephrase, since you dont get it, theyre not so much "fasle facts" as they are "facts that youre basing entirely on your own opinions." so neither true nor false, but far from "fact."

EDIT: did you just call me a kid and then finish your next post with "plzzzzzzz 2 ez?" what are you, 16?

This is pretty much just your personal opinion. I personally think everything they're doing is improving the game. I can't prove you wrong, and you can't prove me wrong. Thanks for the post, but it seems that EME have made up their minds. If the tables were turned, I wouldn't be complaining about how horrible of a grind the game is; I would simply find a game that suited my playstyle.

I don't think some MMO players ever played with blocks when they were kids. You can't fit a square peg through a round hole. If the game doesn't suit your playstyle, then instead of trying to get it to change, why don't you find a game that does suit your playstyle?

I guess it's more fun to complain until you're blue in the face. To each his own I guess.

EXP rates looked doubled, BAMS were nerfed to the point where anyone could solo them on their first try (not just hp/dmg, their abilities were changed and no longer provided uber debuffs) and elin wore skorts QQ.

Exp rates were pretty fast on kTera as well. I played kTera right from the moment it launched, and exp does seem "slightly" faster here, but it's not a huge change. Also, grinding does not equate to difficulty. Taking forever to level isn't "Hard", it's called "Tedious", AKA "Second Job" AKA "Born to fail as an MMO".

As for BAMS, they do seems slightly easier on some encounters (But the changes were made to kTera as well, and it mostly pertains to low-level (20-45 bams). End game content, especially hard mode, is still a good challenge, and a lot of fun. And now the lower level stuff isn't frustrating for new players LEARNING the game (What low level content is for)

I'm not a prude, nudity of any kind does not bother me. Hell I go to gore sights and laugh at videos of people blowing their hands off. So though I didn't care if they "changed Elin clothing" or not. But I can say that the "New clothing" isn't noticably better or worst. Still looks skimpy, still looks like a pedo-wet-dream. Why even complain about that kind of change?

Then you removed player shops which was an ok change since NA players are more use to using an AH/trader system, no gripes here.

Those shops were lame as all hell, in Ktera and in Beta US Tera. It's a great change, so I'm also glad they changed it.

Increase drop rates because players were whining they couldnt farm goldz on an obt engine which is 6 patches old? terrible

Drop rates were increased because some people want to ENJOY the game. PvP, roleplay, crafting, etc. No one in their right mind wants to run an Aion style dungeon where you go in 10 times and get 1 gold to split among 5 people. It's stupid and makes game play repulsive for the majority of the subscribers. Having gear become some sort of sick Korean Grind Fest is a sure way to get Tera on the F2P list with no expansions and dead servers.

And now LFD.. Kill the community and owpvp with one fell swoop, cater to people who dont leave velika or soon to be ironforge.. gonna be playing WoW with a korean twist in 2 months, mark my words.

Aparently you never played Ktera, because even there you could take pegasis right to the country/city you needed to go to, then hop the blue hat teleport girl right next to the dungeons. So there is NO difference between the LFD mechanic, and the old way, except with the LFD UI you don't have to spam LFG for 50 minutes straight to get a group. Just use a clean UI to group everyone up.

Come on kid, think harder before you post.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if these changes happening to Korean TERA have been bought about by requests made by EME, and either a) BH don't want to maintain 2 different code-bases, or b) they believe EME's ideas are actually better than theirs.

But yeah, I agree with your general sentiment. I've come to associate the word "Westernization" with "catering to the lowest common denominator". I've started slipping it into conversation in that context. It's working out quite well ;)

I've given up caring though, this is obviously the direction EME have chosen to take the game in, and they're pushing ahead with that decision full throttle. I'll make the most of whatever we get, but I doubt I'll be still playing 6 months down the track.

Will address this since it was not in the post at the time or I missed it totally.

LFD does not kill the community. That is a fallacy. It can hurt it somewhat but the degree is very debatable.

I can say from experience that there was virtually no community before or after LFG on large servers and there was still strong communities on small servers.

What might have been left of anything approaching community was going down the toilet on large servers in wrath long before LFG was added. It had more to do with the overall ease of the game (all aspects) IMO.

In Rift it had no effect at all.

Secondly LFG will have little to no effect on OWPvP for two reasons.

1. You can already teleport to dungeons avoiding OWPvP

2. While the argument is that people will just sit in towns a LFG tool in fact actually allows people out of towns since they don't have to worry about missing "trade" spam for instances. I know I spent a hell of a lot less time in town after LFG then before.

Also BGs are what kills OWPvP. WoW had almost none by the time Wrath rolled around. At worst LFG kills the tiny amount of Instance door PvP that can happen.

I, too, played K-TERA and love all of the changes so far.
