Auto-friend is an awful feature for PVP

I have a friend who gets ganked a few times he's level 52 gets ganked by a group of 5 doing Bams (levels 51-54)

They hunt him down for no real reason, so he asks me for help. I'm level 60. By the time I arrive, they have unflagged, but I want vengeance and a little pubstomp.

So I kill them all once essentially wipe their group. I then, get added by ~7 people in their guild to my friends list. This is annoying and intrusive in many ways.

I don't care that they get a free "where are you // I'm going to hunt you down". What I really have an issue with is it's spamming my friends list of real friends and acquaintances I've met along the way. This makes it difficult to filter out the people I do know, and people I don't.

I now have 19 friends, only about 12 of them I know.

/end rant - stupid feature / allow a toggle / disabled auto add.

p.s. it's pretty annoying when you carry a group of bads through an instance as well, so they all add you as friends too.

Agree completely with a toggle. It's nice at times, but other times it's like "I do not want this person on my friend's list dammit."

I forget who people are and only friend people that I enjoyed playing with.

I would love something similar to how EvE has their system. You have a personal, corp and alliance setting that goes from +10 (blue) to -10 (red), at intervals of .1. It makes it nice to see someone that is +5 to your corps because they are friendly or someone that is -10 to you personally because you've had personal altercations with them in the past. Along with a 3 tier settings system you can add personal notes to any pilot you come across. Makes it nice to know that -5 (orange) guy in the system is a bot and you want to kill him for his Iskies.

I agree that an auto friend is annoying. It is something that can be changed though and is not a fundamental flaw with the game. So here's hoping a Dev will look into this and change the system over the next few months.

When you block somebody you're removed from their friends list, FYI

Lol - kind of messed up... Here are your choices - be this person's friend or tell this person to [filtered] off...

(although I guess that solves the issue for anyone who doesn't want to be tracked in PvP)

Speaking of PvP, it would make it nice for a system like EvE's to be in place. Guilds could "friend" or +10 guilds and allow them discounts to their trainers etc., while creating an "enemy" -10 list that would revoke privileges to guilds. It also creates an easier way to help handle troublemakers in a region if the vanarch could set different ratings to guilds/people. A known trouble maker could be set red and not allowed to use that regions town resources.

It might mean a small change to the outlaw system, since they pop red while being outlaw. But a similar system worked in EvE as well, where if they were +10 to your corp/alliance they were blue, not red even if they were in outlaw status.

Just a tip if you haven't noticed it. At the bottom of your list is a "Note" button. Every time I friends someone or have been friended I add a note as to why. Ex: guildie, grouped once, good tank ect. Anytime anyone is blank I know they added me for their own reasons.

I'll have to do this - thanks.
