I've leveled all the archtypes to 10 trying to pick a style and I have one at 15.

All I see at this point is another 'pick up the quest, turn in the quest, pick up the quest, turn in the quest' grinder that's a staple of all MMOs.

I pray EM is reading this thread and puts a BAM in around level 6 on par difficulty with the level 11 starting isle boss. Enough time to sort yourself out for key bindings and long enough to have a few skills. .Even Vekdas could serve this purpose.

Quest grinding to 20 isn't going to work for so many tired MMO Vets who will see your starting zone and say, "Meh nothing but an MMO with some crosshairs. Big Deal. Planetside did that in 2001."

Visit my thread to help support this cause, a more indepth look at some ideas for the island of dawn.

We need to hook players during that OBT and this current model will not cut it.

True, but not everyone was sold.

Many people have complained here that they thought the starting area was painfully easy (myself included) and quickly feels like mindless grinding of pushover mobs that we steamroll.

It's not until your first REAL BAM that you have cause to say, "Wow, what a challenge!" and I think people need to see that sooner than level 20.

I agree with this. I was determined to drop my CE box order to get the digital CE because I was thinking, "Damn this game is good and beautiful, but I'm a game hopper and I can't guarantee it will keep my longer than three months."

Then I fought a basilisk. I cancelled my refund. Going CE box all the way. That fight was so freaking exciting. I've never felt more awesome in an MMORPG in my life.

A thousand times, THIS!

Most players aren't going to wait until level 20 before they leave the open beta. They're going to play for a few hours, say, "Well, that's neat, but everything is stupid easy." and they're GOING TO LEAVE!

Give us a few optional BAMs on the IoD and we have a winner. Even allowing players to WATCH other players take down a BAM would be perfect as it would make them say "Wow, what's THAT?!" and further intrigue them in the game.

Exactly, and this is what Gabe from Penny Arcade has been saying after only getting to level 12 during the beta.

I first heard of TERA when IGN sent me a beta code for the first CBT weekend having no prior knowlegde about TERA i procceded to look it up on youtube and after seeing videos of KTERA online i quickly bought a pre order.

Once i got into CBT1 I was somewhat dissapointed with the combat until like many others i finaly reached level 20 and tried my first basilisk and that got me hooked so I whole heartedly agree that we should have lower level bams.

It does however dissapoint me that there is no excitment in a mystic before level 27 (debatable then again almost anything is but i didnt find real excitment in my mystic until SM that is unless you find running in circles DOTing a BAM until it one day falls over or finishing quests at the slowest pace i can imagine exciting) when you get your first instance where the tank can do just that and you get to experiance the healing in a matter where you arnt running from a group of angry mobs after 2 heals.

Though with all that said im still making my main a mystic after my experiance in SM i just wish my leveling her was going to be more exciting.

Did anybody else notice how much easier the first BAM at the end of the Island of dawn was compared to K-Teras release?

He was once a challenge and now can be flicked to death practically.

I actually think the monster in Dark Revelations is supposed to be a "mini-BAM" just for this purpose. But he's not really strong enough to require the 5-man group the quest says you need, but he probably causes some grief from players who are new and still getting their legs. However, I hate the idea of a required-to-progress quest being tied to needing a group too. Perhaps if it wasn't a main story quest, it could be harder and really need a group. Or a side quest fighting something else that's a little more BAM-like.

This. I also didn't like the fact that the main story quest that you NEED to do to get off that god forsaken island is a group quest. It's a bad idea and I'm not sure what they were thinking when they implemented it. Yes, I personally solo'd it on my sorcerer and grouped up with a slayer on my priest, but I could see a lot of newbies having trouble with it and not everyone likes grouping up. The group quests like that should be optional.
