Right when I had lost all hope. Right when I was about to lay down my mouse and sadly walk away to that song from the incredible hulk; I met them.

Basilisks.

And much fun was had. After my friend and I got murdered 3 or 4 times because all the mobs up to these beastly monsters didnt even slightly prepare us. Pft, its eyes glowed red? wha, wha wha, probably just gonna hurt me a litt--oh god im dead.

We then successfully duod the enitre quest. With only slightly less deaths.....this is how it shoulda been out the gate :P

I'm still baffled why people think trash mobs should be ultra super ****ing hard... (wtb Hardmode server)

Maybe introduce a few elites in areas, sure, but the selection of normal monsters isn't much different from your average MMO: they're cannon fodder.

Good news is from the moment you meet basilisks, there's always a BAM your level to fight, though like any PvE encounter, you'll eventually master those too.

Yeah seriously. Fought my first BAM last night and I was blown away. It was so so so fun. I guess 20 is a good level but it would be nice to have one world boss on the newb island so all the newbs can fight it together. It can be like a dynamic quest!!!! Seriously imagine you just start the newb island and a huge dragon climbs up from the side of the cliff!!!!!! You and all the nooblets have to fight it while NPC priests are healing and dropping motes. They should also res nooblets. This would completely change the starting island dynamic. I'm so excited about this idea I want to start my own thread. The island shouldn't be that Idyllic.

I would imagine, since falls of a great distance seem to just take you to 1 hp, that they could design such a dragon to have an ability that, if you didn't avoid it, knocked you high into the air and you fell out of his range and to 1 hp, but never really doing any other significant damage. Thus, the only way to die to this "boss", with the NPC healers, would be rushing in at 1 hp.

One of the problems is that clan chief bosses (like the mob you kill as a final quest in a series... Like Vekas, or Kugai, and way on into the later levels) are weak. Kugai is the exception, but all the others are generally weaker and than most of their lackies. I'm finding a "chief" mob (term I made up, but 'boss' is confusing for this purpose) and they're not tough at all. It's like this on lancer... Charge in -> Shield Barrage -> Spinning Thrust -> Combo Attack x3 -> Spinning Thrust, get kill credit.

I don't get this either. It makes zero sense for any game that wants to be popular to do that.

Am I the only person who thought Basilisks were too easy?

I soloed that entire quest without a single death,on my first ever time fighting a BAM.

I also soloed a Kumas on my first try.

My only issue with them is that they're super time consuming to solo, but I suppose if they're meant to be 5 manned instead of soloed that makes sense.
