Sometimes I have to hit block 2-3 times before it works, It's not my ping or PC either.

Edit: How do I know this? Because this did not happen a few weeks ago.

Only block issues out of my direct control I've seen are the "10pm eastern lag of doom" and my RMB literally glitching (have to hold the mouse button a little tighter).

I'm trying to see if there's a simple way to measure in-game latency to the TERA servers to see if disabling nagling will affect the lag at all.

I'm frustrated cause I was very comfortable with blocking and almost never took damage in any instance or pvp, but now I can't help but get hurt and knocked down constantly because of this bug. It has to be a bug. I home a dev makes an official statement about this because a majority of players are quite frustrated with this!

Yeah I've never had a case of block not working at all. Block doesn't cancel your animation immediately if you're doing another attack for example. But it does buffer your input so that it blocks the next instant your character is able to. If you let go of the button then your character will quickly block whenever it can then release. Perhaps that's what's happening?

Wow way to disregard everyone else's experiences to the contrary. How about explaining your bug in better detail? I've never encountered what you're saying. In fact, block is one of the things this game gets absolutely right. It's never failed me once I learned the timing on it.

Easymode did a great job explaining a confusing aspect of blocking.

Nuc, I spent a good deal of time raging about my block not working; I thought I was blocking, but it wouldn't start blocking for a second or more after I hit the button. It turned out that I was just totally out of mana and the block didn't work until I had regened some >_<

As far as it just flat out not working, my partner and I have noticed a similar bug when spamming ranged attacks: Occassionally, we will attack and no projectile ever materializes - sometimes several attacks in a row. However, if it happens in front of an enemy, the invisible projectile still lands. Is it possible that this is happening with your block?

Mana was not the issue. As I stated earlier. I tested it from a stand still, non-combat situation with no cooldowns active. I would simply click the block button and my character will unsheathe his weapon and lance and then re-sheath it w/o executing the block.

I do not think its possible that the block is still occurring as I would take a knock-down from the boss sometimes due to my shield not being up after I have pressed it.

I do think its probably latency related like the sorc teleport jaunt.

If you read posts, you would see that plenty of other people are having the same issue, and have described in detail how it occurs and affects them.

What we are saying is that there is an issue with blocking that has appeared within the latest few patches, and we want to make sure there are plans to implement a fix.

Because I'm not convinced there is a bug. If it's a bug with the game mechanics, when why is it that I have never experienced it?

Nuc might be right about it being a latency issue.

I wonder if there was a change to the network side that made holding block more sensitive to packet loss. Shrug~ speculation.

Weird, it does for me all the time. Many many times I'll try to squeeze in a SA before an incoming hit and sometimes I end up cancelling it with block at the last second.

Played last night for the first time since the recent patches, did some bams, didn't have any issues with the block bug people are reporting. I'll keep an eye out.

@BarbeQQ: For the last few nights I've been experiencing this weird block thing as well. At first I thought my right mouse button was broken because my character would drop his guard for no reason even as I was still holding the button down. It's hard to explain. Like I'd hold the button down, and he'd block for a split second, then put his shield away and take a face full of damage while I was still holding my block button down.

I went from taking little to no damage in dungeons to getting hit and knocked all over the place because of this thing. I don't want to do dungeons right now because on my last run through NT (after a few great runs before the patch), I came close to dying for the first time since I rolled my lancer. I mentioned to the group that blocking seemed weird and maybe I was tired and unfocused. The priest told me not to worry about it and some of his lancer friends were having the same problem.

I thought maybe it was either server lag or a problem with my network, and came to the forums to see if anyone else had noticed it.

Lo and behold, there were people talking about it. But I see that there are people that swear it's a bug and people that swear it's working.
