Hey, I decided its time to build a new computer because my old one is just really outdated.

I've put together a list of items I plan on buying, and I am pretty new to the whole computer building scene. If anyone can add any input to my list that would be great, also if you have another idea instead of a item listed.. please let me know.. thanks!

My budget is around 700-850 and my goal is to max all the games with really good FPS (50-60).

(All prices are in Can $)

Case: Cooler Master HAF 912 - $65
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119233

GPU: Zotac Geforce 560ti - $240
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814500236

PSU: Corsair Builder Series 600W - $80
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139028

CPU: Intel Core i5-2500k - $224
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115072

RAM: Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2x 4GB) - $45
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145345

Fans: Cooler Master R4 120mm Case Fan - $9
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103069

Fans: Cooler Master Megaflow 200mm Case Fan - $20
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103072

Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 - $40
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103065

MOBO: ASRock Z68 E3 Gen3 LGA 1155 Intel - $150
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157271

As for the hard drive, I will be taking a 500GB Hard Drive out of my computer and placing it into the new computer.

If anyone has any other recommendations for parts, or know a site that has a certain part for cheap; please let me know. I am looking for the best bang for the buck while staying in my $700-850 max range.

Thank you for your time!

Just my thoughts.

Also if you plan to reuse your HDD pull what you need off it first. Then wipe it.

Hey dude,

I'm building almost the same PC right now. In my opinion, I'd go with a Z77 chipset mother board. That will give you some future proofing for when / if you want to upgrade your CPU to the IVY Bridge.

Other than that, it looks pretty solid.

(this is my mobo: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128545 )

EDIT: Also, I wouldn't go with an AMD. They do have a better price / performance but Intel is superior for CPU's right now. And the i5 is very good. Also the Mobo I linked is a Gigabyte which allow for very easily over clocking.

Edit 2: I wouldn't listen to the guy above me... no offense. He linked a 6 dimm set when your mobo and his only have 4 slots. Also linked a 'refurbished' gpu. :D good luck on your build!

I'm looking to build a new computer as well, so I've been doing a lot of research. Are you just going to use your old Windows 7? I had a perfect set up going for under my budget, then i completely forgot about windows 7 - this added like 100-150 bucks to my price :/

A local guy in town said he would build this for 1400 bucks for me.

CPU: i5 2500k Quad Core 3.3GHz (3.7GHz Turbo Boost). The 'k' means that you can overclock it to about 4.5GHz if you feel that it is necessary.
GPU: EVGA GTX570 Fermi 2560MB 320bit. This card blows mine out of the water.
SSD: Crucial (excellent brand) 128gb SATAIII. Your computer will turn on/off super fast and loading screens during games will take about 1/5th the time.
RAM: 2 x 4gb = 8gb DDR3 G.Skill RipjawsX
Motherboard: MSI (2xUSB3.0, 6xUSB2.0). This motherboard can hold a maximum of 32GB of RAM and has room for a 2nd video card. This gives you the ability to upgrade later down the road.
DVD: ASUS 24X DVD Burner (not Bluray)
Power Supply: 850W Corsair

but this is without Windows 7 D:

Hmm... 1,400 for that? Just a quick scan that looks like 1100-1200 in parts.

It's very simple to build your own PC. Newegg has a really good guide (as I'm sure there are 100's on the net). You could save yourself a bunch of money by building it yourself.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking as well. If I didn't want to get it all at once, where would you start? Motherboard...processor? Then buy as I get more money?

Plus I think i'd want atleast a gtx580

The most basic rule for buying / building your own PC is to "get it all at once". If you buy a few parts and wait you can run into a lot of potential problems.

Say one part of your build doesn't work but you ordered it first, how will you know until you put it together days / weeks later? You could run out of warranty time.

If you have to "wait" to buy some parts... I'd wait on the GPU, as the i5 has integrated graphics card that will at least let you boot up.

Also, you have an SSD listed, how about a HDD? 128gb isn't really a lot of memory.. that would be enough for OS + a few games... not to mention if you have movies / songs etc.

You might consider getting a cheap HDD and loading the OS on that until you can afford the SSD and a GPU. Then you can install the OS on the SSD and wipe the HDD and just use that for storage.

Just throwing this out there

dont take anyones advice telling you to buy an AMD cpu... just ...dont

id also suggest getting a 120 gig SSD and keeping that 500 gig. TERA doesnt cache very well and theres a noticeable difference between running it from a SSD vs. a disk. The 120 will be plenty for your OS and a couple games.

ive done the tests myself, I own 2 120gig SSD's and a terabyte with 64meg cache @7200 and can definitely confirm you'll notice a difference in loading in congested areas etc.

Yeah, there inlines another decision I have to make. I've heard that SDD is so much better. Which I guess it's all about the opinion. I'd say I want atleast 500gb. I mean, these days 1tb isnt even that bad in price.

-where I start getting confused and not having that much experience in is the Motherboard. To me it is hard researching the compatibilities of the different parts and how they go together, especially when it comes to the Motherboard.
