Can someone give me a reason to keep playing? AKA Reasons Im unsubbing thread #332342

I enjoyed leveling in Tera, I honestly did. I enjoyed doing dungeons and BAMs with friends... the first 100+ times... I enjoyed the look and feel of the game, but after 2 months playing, one 60 character with a bunch of +9 [filtered] and several 30+'s that I never finished, I am ready to throw in the towel.

Between the atrocious crystal market, the retarded-ly un-fun and grindy crafting system, the *uncountable* number of bugs and broken [filtered], the terribad community and overall game balance, and the highly limited endgame activities, I can't find a reason to keep playing.

I started playing with 5 friends, there is now only myself and one other person playing and it looks like he will be quitting soon as well. The server I'm on has only gone down in population so if I want someone to do low level bams I get to wait and watch the tumbleweeds blow by for at least an hour or so usually before I have enough of a group, so there's not much point in leveling alts...

I've heard it all on here before, you leveled too fast! It takes time to fix bugs! That's all BS because the game has been out for a lot longer in Korea than it has here so they really have no excuse to have this number of issues considering the game isn't even new amymore. Even if that weren't the case its still an awful argument to begin with, you shouldn't release a product and charge for it if it isn't done, and this game doesn't even feel *close* to done. -I feel like I'm paying for a beta, and that's not a good feeling to have.

None of this is even taking into account the utter silence and uncaring attitude EME has given its players this entire time. There are some friendly people in player support, (friendly but also ignorant, I talked to one in the first week of playing who couldn't even tell me where T13 drops come from) but I don't feel like the Dev's themselves give 2 sh*ts about what happens to us or the game, all this is just a way to make money for them. They haven't addressed a single one of our concerns since release, the very few exceptions being ToT and Nexus (and a few drop tables) the first of which is yet another boring grind that should have been in at the release to begin with, the second being a boring afk lagfest.
Knoxxer did that joke of an interview where he said a lot of nothing, (we're working on it, we're working on it, we're working on it, Ad infinitum) they haven't addressed anything at all, they haven't addressed even game breaking bugs and issues, *zero* communication with the community except to close threads and warn people about the rules. I was also more or less told to f*ck off when I came to them about their $12 price reduction within the first 30 days of release. Several of my friends went through the whole thing with their billing fiasco as well, I myself lost about 4 days of subscription time, and my billing cycle is screwed. I really have 0 respect for them at this point in time.

Additonally, I've already had to discourage several other friends from buying the game due to these afforementioned issues, and I will continue to do so until they make some kind of significant change (read, fix) to the game. So now they are losing money thanks to the poor service in my case.

inb4 don't let door hit your [filtered] on way out, nothing of value was lost, entitled etc

I payed for the game on my own steam, and I now I have buyer's remorse because the product was not up-to-snuff, so don't give me that entitlement bullsh*t. I also realize I'm not the first person to point this stuff out, and I won't be the last, I just want to make yet another voice heard for EME so that they can't pretend they don't know why their ship is sinking. And to warn the few out there who may have some sense to read the signs.

TL:DR- Can someone explain to me why despite the crap community, crap devs, crap game balance, incomplete game, and crap end game there's any reason not to let my sub run out at the end of this month? Are any of you out there who have reached endgame honestly still enjoying themselves?

I'm still enjoying myself because guildies and PvP make the game fun and even running dungeons with guildies can still turn into a fun experience after i've ran them 20 times.

This thread is not constructive, it's someone who regrets their purchase even after playing probably 150 hours or more of it and feels the need to bother the community with a useless thread.

I'm sorry if you feel 'bothered' by my thread, I think you missed my point, the main thing I'm trying to accomplish here is establish that here's yet another case where someone recognized the game currently has irreconcilable issues, that person being me, and to warn others that its an issue, and that it needs to be either solved or this company is going to go out of business.

Also I am curious to see if there is still anyone left who can make a valid argument why the game is fun or should be played, so far its gone as expected.

If you aren't having fun, then don't play. I for one have a lot of fun, I don't find the community to be crap, and I don't have trouble finding people to group with. And I play on one of the tiniest servers, Arachnaea. I don't know what I am doing different than you but, but hey, maybe I have lower expectations. I have one level 60 which I do the little amount of end-game on, and in the mean time I have 7 alts I can work on leveling, to get a feel for the other classes - to me, that is really fun, but it may not be to you. If your friends are leaving, find a guild and make new ones.

As far as anything about this company - I am highly unimpressed with EME as a company anymore, but I am still having fun in this game, so I keep paying and playing.

Fun is a subjective word. If one person feels that grinding the same dungeons everyday and gambling for enchantments as fun then the game is still fun to them. So yes there are people who still find the game 'fun'. Just not you, and that is ok. Take some time off let some patches come out and come back and see if you enjoy the game again.

OP: I wont take out the reason of your post, but then, I have something to say:

All this impatience is part of the new community of MMO players, I dont know how/why it happened, but seems that nothing in this world can become a legend anymore because simple people does not give time for it. What Im trying to say is: Do you think that Pink Floyd was awesome in their first album? Was a cheap copy of Beattles... After they became the most fabulous band of all times.

This game is a piece of art that is being made and matured with time and experience, nothing comes easy. The people who developed this game had a idea, so they made it, and now they gave to the world know. Korea mentality/taste/aspirations is way different than the western, so I dont think that really matter that the game is there since 1+ year already, also, they fixed several things before bring the game to US/EU.

The game is here for 2 months only, this is nothing. I was dev of private MMO servers, and I know how long take to edit some simple textures... Now, imagine how long does take change all that this game need, add/remove, test all, and let it ready to give to us? Really, 2 months... Think about it. I dont like to take in count the time that the game have in Korea, because there is like "another world" (they find that this game have no grind enough, one of the reasons that is failing there) and we complain about grind, so...

Imagine that this game is a 1,5 year old child, that was learning the first words in a culture/language and now came to another country, do you understand what it mean? Do you think fair just abandon the whole game because of 2 months? I dont think so... How do you expect they improve the game if everyone just leave? They wont work for free... Talking about money, they already spent a huge amount of money to go against NCSoft and save the project, bringing online for us... If was 10 years ago, no one would complain about anything, they would enjoy the game as it is, stop to compare with others and try change everything.

So Ill tell you: Login in the game, go into character creation, look all options of customization for all classes, go around the world, look the scenarios, read all NPCs names, quest names (even if the quests are simple), monsters, items, all engine... And really, do you think that this is little work? Someone made all that, every word, every code, every design was planned and made with care in this game. Have bugs, yeah, have bugs of course, but this is a complex game with a entire new combat system, no one never did it before, theres no base, no way to compare with nothing that came before. Also, they are trying to not copy the other games features, have similar aspects? Of course, no one create something from nothing (as the physics law say: everything transforms)

If we dont support them with our feedback and our faith, how in hell we'll can blame them to not give us a better game, if in first place the community fail? Just think about the world 10 years ago, and what is now; what is the difference? People dont know WAIT for anything. Everyone have power, everyone have voice, everyone require and dont wait to be pleased, and this is not only about games, my dear fellow.

Everything we love and enjoy, took time to be made, and this is not what the community is giving (either for games/everything else), so, if you came here, and played as far as you did, for sure have many points that make you like this game a lot, if not, you would not play as you did, right? Keep those points in mind, and wait, support, show your appreciation and your expectations gently and cordially.

the time bring to us voice, culture, access and globalization. With this, more options for everything, but at the same time, took us out the really feeling of joy for something we appreciate, the sense to feel details and be amazed, spend time enjoying the small things.
