Cash Shop and I'm gone

LOL! Troll level 99!

How does the weapon skins affect your game??? It doesn't do anything except for looking good.

I'm surprised you even touched this game. There was an unofficial cash shop already with the pre-orders. Lion mount or not....

GTFO or shut up and play.

I would not be writing this post if I did not love Tera. It is what caused me to care, and also what will make me sad when I leave it.

Before coming to Tera I played WoW, having quit some 3 years ago. That was the last subscription game I've played, and since then I have been playing F2P mmo's. When I quit, I agreed not to subscribe to any game. Tried the Tera open beta, and decided this superb game would be worth the monthly fee.

This cash shop though? Like others have said, nobody has a problem with character changes, gender changes, name changes, etc. But those weapon skins just made my blood boil. They are so borderline, that my decision to leave Tera for GW2 upon release, just became alot more real. I would be 100% okay with them if this was a F2P game. I understand the servers have to stay up, and micro transactions are unavoidable in such games. But I am paying a subscription... I pay it only because I don't want to have to deal with these cash shop shenanigans. I hate to draw a line for you, but anything that goes beyond name / gender changes is too much.

This is my message to you EnMasse. You are on a thin line. Alot of my clan members are waiting for GW2, playing Diablo, and won't touch your game because it has a subscription...even after they tried the free open beta. Do you really want to test how much people like your game? You might think that you're the only true action combat game and people pay anything, but you are quite wrong. Look at the competition, open your eyes! Guild Wars 2, Diablo III, Online Elder Scrolls (announced), heck, even WoW is still a threat.

A subscription AND a cash shop? I know where the door is.

Please tell me where the mean ol' vanity item cash shop touched you.

/sarcasm

Good luck in you journey. You can always go back to WoW. Oh wait! It has a cash shop. Nevermind. Hope you enjoy forking out 60 bucks every few months on expansions on your b2p GW2. Oh and the cash shops that will come.

/sarcasm (for real)

Don't understand what all the complaining is about.

If you liked the game, you'd support the game. The more vanity upgrades people pay for, the longer all the regular players get to stay on servers.

You can have a massive population all paying nothing and server glitches all over the shop, or you can have a stable server with less players, supported by extras in the premium shop. It's a small dev. They need money. Heck if they put up options, maybe I'll buy stock in them. They deserve it for having the gumption to put out such a great game on the quality level of those released by giants like Square and Blizzard. They were also the first to have the courage to release something unprecedented like an action based MMO. It's not a particularly innovative concept, I've wanted one for some ten years. We've had the technology and ideas to run action games on servers without much lag, like, forever. What nobody until now has had is the balls to actually risk it, and hope people can accept such a massive change from the point and click garbage gameplay we've suffered for over a decade.

You knew from the getgo there were premium options, they've been there from day one. Upgrade your account to Premium, get a lion mount, etc.

And besides, you call this extortionate money? I thought this game had a Mature rating, you have an income right? I'd assume some disposable income, seeing as you paid for this game in the first place. If you want the upgrades, can't afford the upgrades, what are you doing playing?

$10 is not even an hour's wage for me, and I'm not high income by any means. The change is permanent, so it's not like a 7 day dye job (hey, lots of complaining about those, too.)

I see people saying they'd rather farm gold for HOURS than pay $10 for what is a completely cosmetic change.

I have a full time job and a life outside of the game. I suspect the people complaining are on 24/7 and think they should be afforded privileges for that. How are you paying for this game in the first place? If $10-$25 is not petty cash to you, you probably shouldn't be online anyway (ie. you're under 18, dependent on parents, or should be looking for a job/doing your studies.)

Tera saves me tons of money in fact, any game I get into saves me money because I forego extra evenings out to play it. I don't particularly need my evenings out, I'm married, but I do need downtime from work. The sub fee is nothing, it means I'm not at a pub twice a week.

I suspect a lot of this complaining boils down to internet generation kids, want everything for nothing. It's perplexing to me. Back in my day we walked 15 miles in the snow to the gamestore (not literal, we took the bus) and put down upwards of $100 on the table for a SNES RPG with 60 hours max gametime. In fact, I imported. Make that $150.

It's not just this game that I see such whinging on, it's been on EVERY ONLINE GAME I EVER PLAYED, whether it was sub based, free to play with pay to win, or attached to your XBOX Live or PSN sub. Every single time: "What, I have to pay for extra content that somebody put in post-game and worked to provide for me?"

When everything is free, you have a borderline state of communism. Fat communists who never leave the house and are drip fed internet content and snack food. Did you see that film Wall-E? This is you.

There are plenty of free games out there on the freeware circuit. I know, I know, not as polished as an MMO with multi millions invested in development. But they are free. So they must be better, right? Why not go play those?

In fact, may I recommend the I-pad? Put down $500 initial outlay (cheaper than your computer I bet) and enjoy all the content that a mass state of internet gen want it free whinging has reduced to paying from zero to $5 for games from big devs that's all point and click due to the limitations of the input method, and boring. You'll love it.
