Concept of PVP?

At the risk of sounding like a QQ thread, I've yet to see any actual PVP. In fact it's just the opposite. The PVP servers are filled with dickwads that are so bored they have nothing to do but harass low level players trying to level.

The last few times I have logged in I have been killed within seconds to a couple minutes by much higher level players.

Needless to say I logout; After a frustrating day at work the last thing I want is to login to a game I am wanting to enjoy and have it make me more frustrated.

It's a bit ridiculous and frustrating when you can't even experience the game becuase your getting 1 shot in a lowbie leveling area.

I understand the concept of PVP, in fact thats why I joined a PVP server. I play EVE and SWTOR, I also have played Aion, WoW and others for many years.

This is not PVP and serves no purpose but to disrupt gameplay. It's a system designed for higher level players that have the time to play 5+ hours a day to harass the people who don't and make them quit before they can ever level to actually experience "real" pvp in the game.

Read the chat logs, this isn't just my opinion, it's an epidemic and should be a growing concern.

It has really has sucked the enjoyment out of the game before I've really had the chance to even experience it.

I've found that staying out of channels 1-2 has left me victually untouched in world PvP. In levelling 4 characters to between level 18-33 I have not been killed once.

I have been engaged and won, but never by a higher level player. High level gankers tend to be lazy and they sit in channel 1 or 2 and camp bridges or choke points.

Switch to a different channel and problem solved.

Zeropatches you can switch channels. I usually go to channel 4 when I'm questing. This game came out like a week ago. Wait till the majority hits level 60.

This sort of PvP play is a huge part of what makes MMOs so much fun! The game is socially-driven by a specific community (the players on your server). When high level characters harass the lower level players, it creates real and sincere feelings of there being enemies that are much more than mindless AI and linear storyline. You are a part of the game, just as every player is. The existence of these evil PKs is a good thing, because it creates very interesting social dynamics. Quite often, I see high levels saying in area chat: "Are there any problems with PKs here? If so, please send me a whisper, I will come to help you!"

There are actual "good guys", that run around and like to be helpful and kind to the players such as the OP that like to PvE in peace, and there are also the "bad guys" that make the good guys possible and even meaningful. Of course, there are also grey area characters that are sometimes good and sometimes bad. It is all very immersive, and in my opinion it makes for a much more realistic and open gaming experience.

You get to be whoever you wish to be, and you are not stuck in some pre-determined role that the game and lore have decided for you. If you truly hate those mean PKs (such as myself, I love killing you newbies that cannot fight back!), I feel it means that the developers have done a wonderful job with the PvP system. To create a game that players become emotionally involved in is quite a feat, and a worthwhile one at that.

If you hate PKs so much, perhaps you should join the ranks of those that make it their purpose in TERA to hunt us down, and protect the younger adventurers from that which you perceive to be evil and immoral! And honestly, if you are going to quit TERA over being PKed a few times while you try to level, you should consider starting over on a PvE server. Being PKed is hardly an inconvenience at all, just some stamina loss and a very short run back to your quest area. It is not big deal, and if it were up to me I would make the penalties for dying in PvP much, much greater than what they are.

Please just try to enjoy the game for what it is, though, and don't give up! :)

Because that's what PvP is.

Also, there are Channels for a reason. I would suggest utilizing them. You aren't going to convince anyone that there are high levels in every channel of every zone killing lowbies.

The problem in Tera is there's no incentive to fight people your own level. There's honestly no incentive at all to PvP right now, no rewards of any sort. Because of this, players have nothing better to do but to feel "bad [filtered]" and go around griefing lowbies.

PLEASE go back to your other thread and tell them how to fix it! I don't want Tera to fail because they didn't have enough chances to read your advice! I'll help you bump the thread anytime you need, ok?

You know what would happen if there were rewards?

Take a look at SWTOR as a good example. Perhaps you never heard of what Ilum was like during the hot times.

I'll give you an idea; it was the worst zerg-fest you could possibly imagine.

That's exactly what would happen. Teams and teams and teams of people ganking the living [filtered] out of eachother. And it's not like these fights would be fair, either. It would be one swarm versus a few others. Then the PvP would die when the minority got tired of getting [filtered].

Aion, SWTOR, GW2, Eve Online, almost all modern mmorpg's prohibit this type of behavior in noob areas.
