Concerned about the number of servers on launch.

I was browsing around the forum looking for answers regarding about the amount of servers at launch and came across this : http://tera-forums.enmasse.com/forums/general-discussion/topics/Seeing-more-Servers-on-Server-List

As of right now, I'm assuming that the list of servers here are just for testing purposes but if this is truly the amount of servers that will be at launch, then I think we will have a big problem regarding the amount of people in one server. As many will know, TERA is not being heavily advertised as other games as of right, thus the amount of people playing will be significantly lower than lets say GW2, which is heavily being advertised, nott to mention that this will be a p2p game. In no way I'm complaining, I'm just concerned about the well being of TERA to last and become huge which in the end I ultimately want.

Does anyone have an official answer for this? Would be greatly appreciated to see if EME is going in the right direction.

The latest word from Knoxxer is they'll publish a finalized list roughly 1 day before early character creation, or so.

I'm pretty sure they know how many servers they need. Not rocket science there.

Yes also that the PvE and PvP rulesets may be changed around between servers.

EME has already mentioned in response to other pictures of exposed server lists, to confirm that they are NOT the complete or accurate servers for launch.

They also said that their launch servers will be based off their preorders (if not other things as well, but don't remember). Sounds like they have it under control.

I REALLY HOPE EME MAKES A VERY VERY WISE DECISION ABOUT THE AMOUNT OF SERVERS ON RELEASE.

Especially PvP servers, there is no greater killer to servers than a lack of players.

Look at your pre-orders and the max amount of players each server supports, and make sure the number of pre-orders is HIGHER than the combined total population the servers can support.

Initial drop-off is inevitable and almost no games account for this, the result being and even greater drop-off triggered by the lack of players.

There's typically an inital dropoff, and often servers do need to be cut. But the reason there's extra servers is not because nobody expected a drop.

There is launch congestion because a higher percentage of players are playing at any given time, during launch. Everyone knows there's gonna be a drop. But you either open more servers for launch or you have long [filtered] queues for weeks (or your game's not very popular). It's basically pick your poison.

Well, having multiple channels will help a lot with congestion. Also not having the kind of stuff going on like A**n had that allowed players to stay online indefinitely while they weren't playing helps.

In any event, I'd rather sit in a queue on a busy server for the first week than sit alone on a dead server afterward.

they already have many channels why so many servers? making OWPVP even more dead + the LFD

With many many thousands of inactive beta keys that fan sites and gaming media outlets can't even give away, it does not seem the launch list is going to be much different than what is already available. No answers from Enmasse have been verifiable nor have they contained any solid data.

The entire history of information provided by Enmasse has been nothing more than a Tonic show. Got a problem? Enmasse has the cure to what ales ya.

Because Enmasse is a call center and their job is to make you "feel" like someone is addressing your issue personally. And that "feeling" is where the train ends. Anyone who has worked in a call center, that had more than a few clients, will recognize this. All you do is make the caller "feel" like their issues are being addressed. There is no actual reason to do it beyond that point. I've answered panic'd calls for the CDC (center for disease control) about things that would make the mainstream media [filtered] itself and cry in the corner. I'm no doctor or scientist, but the callers believed I could handle their problem and that belief was all they needed. I always got my full bonus. Always.

Its a tonic show. Nothing more. Maybe that whole placebo thing will work on some of you. But I know that candy coated cyanide isn't going to cure my flat feet or regrow my thinning hair. And the only tonic slinger that could sway me passed on. RIP Billy.
