Content modification vs. Content removal

Regarding the removal of features such as pets, boxes of mischief, and eggs, I feel that tweaking them instead would have been a better option. They add a sort of flavor to the game, however small (or large depending on the opinion). I understand that certain aspects of this content weren't considered suitable for NA TERA. As of now I don't think their removal has had a major negative impact on the game or opinions of the TERA community as a whole. Certainly I'm rather disappointed at losing these features, but this obviously isn't going to affect my overall playing experience too much. I've seen several suggestions on the forums for keeping these items in game.

Boxes of mischief - Sold from vendors or even perhaps kept as drops, but only the crystal morphing versions.

Pets - Restricted areas. Perhaps a Bazaar like feature from EQ in the Velika outskirts or other specific designated areas near or in towns.

Eggs - Simply change what items you'll be getting from the them. Maybe even add very rare items for cosmetic changes with extremely low drop rates.

I feel they had potential, but what I'm worried about here is a continuation of content cutting. As long as NA TERA doesn't become a butchered version of the original I'll remain relatively happy. As for future content, I'd really like to see removal as a last resort for things that are obviously totally game breaking and unfix-able.

I am glad they are gone. I don't care if they come back later. Butchered and refined are the same, just different perspective....

Of course, but when does refined become bare bones? Even if they don't came back (which they probably won't) having small extra content here and there adds up in the long run. Having alternatives and other things to do besides the generic PVP and PVE gives MMOs an additional flavor, that while not necessary, certainly make the game more enjoyable and perhaps even more lasting.

I do hope the pets return in some form or another, even as vanity pets would be nice. *always enjoyed having some kind of pet in mmos*

Therefore my opinion reflects the opinion of the whole community.

Bring as much fluff as they want back. If I don't see a benefit to using it myself I won't. If other people do great.

Well, I agree with you. I think everything they've taken out could have been kept in with some modifications like you suggested. I'm kind of at that, "What next?" point now too after the eggs. :(

I would like to see a lot of this come back, Those items is what made the game special and different, all these little added features. And what happen to the treasure boxes to? or was that a holiday thing? If you start changing everything a little to much things will back fire. as far as the pet stores give a option to turn them off or on just like a profanity filter.

I think the treasure boxes were EME testing how how they would run an event like that.
And there was always an option to turn off pet stores. People just got made that they had to turn off something on their super amazing computers that were actually toasters.

Dude was just stating his opinion. No need to jump down his throat and put words in his mouth.

Fluff is good. Fluff is what you do when you are tired of grinding, and running that dungeon again doesn't sound appealing today.

Fluff is what makes sure you always have some way to pass the time in game. When you run out of that...you start looking at other games.
