Crafting in TERA

Hello,

I have a question about crafting... most games is focused on "ITEM DROP" from bosses.
So, crafting is useless, as all good (and final) items are dropped and farmed!

In TERA the best GEAR will be crafted or can be dropped?

Thanks,

Rodrigo

Umm the best gear will be dropped, but I hear the endgame crafted armor will be really close stat wise to the dropped gear.

I tend to shy away from crafting in MMOs because they tend to be a major time and in-game currency sink. I would rather be fighting mobs than standing around farming materials and crafting items. And, as noted, the stuff that drops from bosses is usually equal or better than crafted stuff anyway. I guess it comes down to what you find more fun....fighting or crafting. Of course, crafting your own gear, especially if it procs, does give a degree of personal satisfaction you don't get with a random drop.

I hope crafting is worth it, personally I love crafting in MMOS, especially if you have a chance to proc better quality and the items are close to the high end non-crafted gear.

Last I heard, drops are always superior to crafted stuff. You'll only use crafted items do upgrade your phat boss lewts.

Crafted gear is "available" for use 3 levels before drop gear. Sadly, crafted gear is not superior stat wise, but is an alternative if you can't run the more difficult instances or don't have the money to buy the good gear. I would say it's moreso for people of solo/casual play since they won't be needing the gear anyway.

The high-end crafted armors and weapons are pretty close to being as good as the dungeon-dropped equipment. It goes something like this...

World Drop (usually unenchantable) -> Crafted / Normal-Mode Dungeon Drop -> Hard-Mode Dungeon Drop

The drop rates in TERA are pretty high. One of the perks of crafted gear though is that you can use it to reskin other armors, whereas most drops we couldn't use for reskinning our equipment. So if there's a particular look you want, you can craft it, or whatever.

Its also worth noting that Crafted Gear is only worthwhile if its made to be enchantable (which requires a certian type of material that only group monsters drop). Un-enchantable gear is a waste for the most part. If you go for +7 or even +9 on some of the LV35+ golds, some of those pieces can be used a pretty damn long time. Un-enchantable pieces are pretty much used for enchanting fodder - there is no real other use for them.

Crafted gear IS a viable option in TERA - especially if you're not able to really run the endgame/hard-mode dungeons for whatever reason. Be it a [filtered] guild, bad PUGs, or whatever. On top of that, Enchanted Crafted Gear (should) be good enough to be used in the hard-mode dungeons. Its a toss-up, really. At "endgame" there's a few different tiers of gear, and Crafted Gear/Normal-Mode Drops are somewhere in the middle as far as quality goes. I can't quite remember the full differences between Crafted/Normal-Mode gears. Its just a matter of the base stats and look, mostly.

It does also depend on which dungeon is being run though. Some dungeons have more/better drops than others.

Some of the top crafted gear will take a lot of farming on that crafter's part, though. There are special materials needed from the BAM's out in the world that are not tradeable, that are used to convert the pieces into better pieces.

Sadly to know...

I think the bosses should drop materials, and recipes... not the items!
If crafting dont worth the time spent on it, why craft?!?

I was playing RIFT and their craft system is a [filtered]! I have mastered on BS for nothing... any item is good enough to instance for example... even the "legendary" ones...

CRAFT is important for the economy on MMOs... why not pay attention to this thing like Ultima Online for example?

Understood... but isnt a bad thing level your craft skill and then on END GAME it worths nothing?

OR use it just to UPGRADE your boss drops... like Gungan said...

Maybe a DEEP Crafting system should be better... I like to kill mobs, bosses, monsters, etc...
But some people like to craft, and if it worth nothing on end-game, why craft?!?

Its not worth "nothing".

Its going to depend a lot on which craft people skill up. Luckily crafting doesn't cost much to levle.

That being said, in KTERA, once crafting was made stupidly easy (and weapons/armor no longer sold for 50M-100M per piece) a lot of money was made making the blue and gold gear for LV30+, for people's alts. Along with that, people who had Alchemy (consumables) made a decent amount of money too.

At one point attack speed scrolls were selling for 25k/each.

The armor/weapon crafts are not useless - they just aren't the primary source for gear. In my opinion, from playing KTERA, I think there will be a relatively high demand for some of the crafted gear - people who aren't able to get drops due to PUGS, or people who can't get into hard mode runs due to being low on the food chain and so on.

Despite a lot of good drops being from hard mode dungeons, there was still a market for crafted gear in KTERA.
