This was the answer we've received when we inquired about the draw distance.

We've discussed this question on our community's behalf and here is the explanation we've got.

Making the appearance/disappearance of characters more gradually is something that requires an extensive support from the Unreal engine, it's something that calls for a very long time to implement. So this may be possible, but will be very difficult, take a long time to apply, and isn't on top of the priority list.

Hope it helps clarify some questions!

Is it not possible to (more easily) have the player characters and monsters use the same sort of loading as NPCs? Town NPCs, for example, will appear at the maximum distance. They may be shaded gray and it may take some time for their textures to appear, but at least they appear when they're supposed to appear.

Players and mobs, on the other hand, just don't show up.. only their name-tags do. Sometimes for minutes. Sometimes even when you're standing right next to them. It's difficult to believe this isn't higher on the priority list.

APB uses the Unreal Engine and doesn't suffer from this problem. Characters show up at 100 meters. They have to, or you would get shot by invisible players.

That's fine and dandy, we understand this part but what we want to know is why BAMs are seen from across the land and players/NPCs/regular mobs don't appear until you are right up their [filtered].

Unreal Engine is more then capable of handling it though, we have seen tons of Unreal Engine games with no issue of the short, not to mention BAMS Don't have this issue.

Sometimes you see a player mount riding by you, with no player. But the player's name is dragging near the ground. The avatar just isn't rendering.

Sometimes you see names of monsters floating around, but no monsters models.

It seems to happen to happen more when an area is crowded, or you're riding quickly through a location, even when you have your settings cranked to show unlimited players/NPCs at maximum distance.

I dont understand why EME says that "it may be possible" if BAMS can be seen from great distances. I think its either a marketing gimmick or a lame excuse.

tip to the devs. why dont you use "fog of war" if ur worried about performance for the gamers that use lower end pcs. WoW had it, it would put fog over the environment if you decrease the slider for draw distance, and the mobs/npcs would FADE in/out seamlessly.

By the way, EME, that game was made 9 years ago. had that option since day 1.

P.s. pls pls pls, dont be like SWTOR and listen to us :)

I agree, there should be an option to increase draw distance much like there is in other games; the constant popping up of creatures, people, as well as surrounding details take away from the overall fluidity and smoothness of the game. Please consider making this issue one of your top- it would be greatly appreciated.
