Dear fine folk over in Seattle;

I know you are quite fond of The Prologue and it's cool and has it's uses. I beleve, however, that it has been universally acknowledged to be a turn off for the new player.

This no download demo is a clever marketing trick since it requires no download and it's free, theoretically presenting a no barrier exposure to the game. Unfortunately the performance in the demo is nothing to be proud of. It's laggy and unresponsive compared to the twitch response of the actual game. It's graphics settings are grainy and on top of that set up in the dreary locale of the prologue.

I feel you'rejust providing an easy no barrier exposure to have people see your game in the worst possible light.

That's silly.

I know for a fact the demo has less than impressed my gaming group, and they refuse to pay the full enchilada for what could be a one week try. I strongly urge you consider passing real free trials for the game and or buddy keys. Right now what you're doing is shooting yourself in the foot.

Kind regards,

Diver, Esq.

I have also heard that the demo is really putting a bad taste in people's mouths. The prologue was always boring tbh.

I agree, the prologue is terrible. For first impressions, Isle of Dawn is bad, but the prologue is even worse. I don't get how they can screw up something so vital. It's no wonder the game isn't any more than a tiny niche in the MMO market, when you look at what most players saw in the open beta, and now the demo.

...and explain how it is even worse? For people who already played KTERA/All CBTs it may be a pain, but I don't see how it is so bad for newcomers.

Prologue is just boring, but making straight free trials will dramatically the amount of gold-selling spam. No thanks.

Yes, the prologue is a bit of a confused mess and an embarrassment. Not only that, but it looks fuzzy in the demo client. It's not of interest to players who are familiar with the game, and provides little information about class mechanics to newbies.

Have a trial server that's accessible to people with normal accounts. That way friends could play with friends, and people could chat without restrictions, but normal servers would not be disrupted by gold sellers with trial accounts.

When someone converts from trial to a paid account, allow them to transfer their trial toon to a normal server.

Okay so even though I own this game and have played it a lot I did not want to comment on an issue with just hear say. So I gave the demo a go to see what was what.

After a few minutes of play(if you can call it that) I must agree with the OP. This is appalling and shows nothing good about the game. It is laggy, has poor graphics settings and is super unresponsive. The camera randomly seemed to fly out of control with every touch of the mouse. The moves were very delayed and it often seemed to fall out of sync.

This is no question not gonna attract new players, it may just put potential buyers off.

The prologue is pretty much the exact opposite of what the rest of the game is. It's a dreary corridor solo hack and slash with scripted events everywhere, why would you want people to see your game like this?

Prologue was so awful when I played through it. It throws you into a character you are completely unfamiliar with, runs you around with fed ex quests, then at the end, ceaselessly nags you to use skills that you have no clue how to use.

Perfect way to get someone to *not* subscribe to Tera, if that is the goal.

The demo was actually quite boring to me, it was slow, laggy and consisted of "Talk to this person" "Put on this" blah blah, typical things...
