Depressed, Game Wasn't What I Hoped

This game is a classic example of someone in the industry trying something new. It feels like as soon as they successfully got real time combat working well and feeling good, they just painted a half hearted MMO system around it just to get it out in the market.

I really do love this game's combat and the pvp that comes with it, but damn if they didn't completely fail in every other aspect. The world itself has beautiful backdrops, but the areas are wholly uninteresting and unimaginative. The questing is probably the most stall experience I've had in any mmo. You can say "every mmo has questing like this" but most MMO's did a better job in keeping the player engaged in the world through quests, even if they didn't read the quest text.

The wost part is the pacing. Around level 45 to 50 depending on your class, the pace of the game dramatically shifts and monsters become far too durable. They don't become harder, but they just take a lot longer to kill. The game starts to feel like a chore at this point. When the QoA content at 58 starts, things get better, but then you meet the terrible end game content this game has. A certain amount of RNG is expected when getting gear, but everything from getting the gear to getting it properly attuned to enchanting it is all heavily RNG based. Some players get lucky and others can spend their whole lives trying to get that enig just right.

Also, the class imbalances don't help much either. If you aren't a warrior/slayer/sorc and you like playing DPS, enjoy spending around three times longer getting everything you need at end game content, because you will probably be kicked a few times after waiting 2-3 hours for que to pop before you get a group kind enough to let you participate. Let's face it, a guild could solve that problems, but you won't always have guild mates around or ones you can fit into your schedule at the time.

I really do love the game, it has been some of the best PVP I've experienced, it's just really sad that the rest of the game was handled so poorly.

For god's sake, if you wanted online hack and slash with no questing why did you purchase a game listed as an MMO?

There are several games I believe you are looking for.

PSO
PSU
Monster Hunter
Diablo

For some reason most the people I talk to on Tera have never heard of the first three, probably because omg, they are console games.

But here's the thing. Tera is an MMO. It's not some new, innovative thing that is not an MMO. The people who give it low review scores seem to be penalising it for having real time combat - ie. "Oh it has real time combat? My ADHD thanks you! Oh wait, there's questing? Levelling up? Grinding? Oh well eff this."

It's an MMO, ie. it has old school levelling. Some of us like this and wanted it. If you came here expecting less of a grind because it has action based combat which is OMG THE FUTURE then I don't know what to say to you.

Because action based, grind based RPGs have existed since the mid 80s. On consoles sure, but PC gamers know that consoles are naughty, slap wrist, never should touch.

Game will be F2P soon I'd just quit the game has lackluster and little endgame with a huge time investment that can come out to 0 Reward. It's worse then SWTOR and that says alot.

+10. For some reason Tera has exceptional combat and graphics but everything else is an example of the Worst of the Worst that old MMOs had.

Every single major Game Reviewer has given TERA a score in the 60s for that reason. Story is uninspiring, questing is repetative and super boring, the game prevents you from questing and leveling with your friends, crafting is boring and a hassle, and endgame is based on Korean type RNG.

It is sad because this game a TONS of potential, but the lack of features and second rate leveling and endgame experience hold it back in chains.

It's not worse than SWTOR, don't be an idiot and just post negative things in very single thread you dolt. You are acting like a teen who just had his girlfriend break up with him, so he goes around slandering her at every chance.

Tera and you did not mesh, move on.

this game has become narcoleptic for me. I can't go more than 10 minutes before I involuntarily fall asleep. For those with some kind of insomnia, I recommend this game! Try it 10 minutes before bed, better then warm milk.

Except I do want questing and all other mmo aspects, I just wanted it done better. They did a really poor job in this area.

Tera is just like it's advertisement. Flashy and holds no substance.
