This is one of the things Im worried about. I've played WoW but I've heard tera in korea was not a big hit because the korean players destroyed it and it got boring. the boss fights were easy. WoW is the hardest PvE game out there (plz dont argue with this. there are many many hard fights out there in WoW. dont tell me there aren't cause you hate WoW) I want TERA to be difficult in PvE but it's iffy so I will probably be doing PvP for a while. its gonna be a great game though!


5 man hardmodes will be more difficult than anything in WoW, don't worry about that, you will punch out your monitor after the 20th wipe.

TERA in Korea launched with a level 50 cap, two endgame dungeons and no hardmode.

Since then 12 dungeons were added and 9 of them have hardmodes.

please die some more, WoW is apple sauce, this is a double edge sword. Comparing the two is like asking "What's bigger? My rooster? or her kitty?" but well, if WoW was the rooster, the kitty would be bigger.


That made zero sense whatsoever, from what I can tell you have a vendetta against WoW. OP's question is valid. I'm worried about it myself. From a lot of the videos I've seen it's just spank the boss as hard as fast as you can and dodge when he texts you when he's about to do a big hit. Granted I stopped playing WoW after TBC and stopped raiding after AQ40 but the boss battles in WoW were extremely well done. If one person wasn't paying attention they'd literally wipe the entire raid. certain classes had to make sure they were in their right places and a lot of coordination had to be done. Even a fight like Vaelstrasz where it was DPS the guy down as fast as you can had mechanics in it where it was crucial to pay attention too. Just because you wipe 20 times on a boss in Tera doesn't mean it has the same level of ingenuity as a WoW boss does. For all we know they just hit hard and have a lot of life. Also there are no resists in Tera as far as I know that could otherwise help on certain bosses examples in WoW being fire resist for Onyxia and Ragnaros. I get that people are sick of people comparing this game to WoW and honestly I am too but theres a reason why the game failed in Korea and we need to address it here before it goes F2P and then theres millions of threads about why it failed when we can just nip this in the bud. The bosses look huge and freaking awesome but if they don't have any uniqueness to them besides attack animations then it'll get stale. I mean for those that raided in WoW, how crazy was it to fight Vael and the drakes then all of a sudden face off a boss like Chromaggus? it was completely different and unique.

Since WoW and TERA are based on different combat mechanics,comparing bosses' mechanic makes little sense.
But if you're worrying about TERA being too easy...
hard mode endgame dungeons are pretty much nightmares :p

To be honest I'll probably give this one to WoW. Raid bosses in WoW have by necessity become more and more heavily scripted over the years just to stay interesting within the limited mechanics of the hotkey MMO. I doubt TERA will launch with bosses that have you jumping through quite as many hoops as you typically do in a well designed raid like, Ulduar for example.

But that's just an assumption, I don't actually know.


Gonna have to go with this. WoW's raid bosses were very fun(and frustrating at times). Mechanics can get pretty complex and varied with each different raid. Not all of them boasted completely different mechanics though. My most beloved MMO - FFXI, could not even compare to WoW's raids. Every Asian-MMO makes nearly every boss fight a tank and spank. As someone said in the thread, they hit hard and have lots of HP. Zzzzz.

Anyways, TERA's BAMs and Elite mobs have been pretty fun so far. I'm happy with that. Sadly, it seems like most BAMs have the generic 360-swipe and a slam-down jump move. I hope it gets more complicated as we progress.

I mean.. it has to, right?
Not giving up on these devs just yet.

Anyway. It seems that some of the folks posting here haven't had a chance to play any of the bosses or BigAssMawnstores yet, so I'll add my impression with respect to World of Warlaughed.

I've played no Korean Tera at all, and my experience is limited to the public closed beta tests. I've had more fun fighting bosses and "elites" [bams] than I ever, ever did in WoWarlaughed.

One of the early BAMs you are faced with are the Naga soldier dudes, and their AI is pretty rad. I also really, really like the BAMs that share the same area with the Nagas, the Windblowfatdudesblowywindypantsbuddhas.

The bosses move -fast-, hit multiple people, and hit pretty hard. There will be blood. There will be fun. There will be much inability to play a tab-target oriented game again.

P.S. - Roll on a PvP server! Much more exciting.

Yes, the bosses can be said to be "hard", but not strategically. Strategically, bosses are very easy. Simple tank n spank. However, the sheer amount of damage they do and the health they have is what makes them hard. Also the dodging, etc. But they are not hard at all in the sense that WoW bosses are.

From some of the dungeon video I watched:

One Boss fight that spawn 2-3 additionally boss at X% HP. The lancer was tanking 2 bosses (maybe he tanked all 3, couldn't really tell) while the berserker was dpsing the 3rd one. Fight took like 10-15minute.

There a tank and spank for some bosses.

From what I heard, some boss fight will have certain mechanism spawned and players have to do X otherwise boss will be stronger or heal. Don't remember exactly.

Yes, TERA's bosses may not "strategically" hard as WoW's but it involved more actions. Unlike WoW, you need to dodge (or whatever necessary to not get killed) depends on YOUR OWN JUDGEMENT. There is no Add-on telling you what to do. You know how to beat the boss doesn't mean you can actually beat the boss. That's where action combat really comes to play.
