Does anyone have anything good to say?

I've been following and researching this game since it's beta, but have yet to play it due to monetary issues. However, I'm incredibly interested in the game and have noticed that it has earned high reviews (some lower than it probably deserves), and positive responses from its players around the time of the beta and immediately after it's release.

Now, however, it seems as though not a single person playing has anything good to say about it. It's as if since it's release the game has gone straight down the toilet. Why is it that during it's beta and immediately after it's release people were heaping praises on this game then all of a sudden everyone is talking about "how soon until F2P?"?" Because of a cash shop?

Seriously, I want to play this game, but many of you guys make it seem like the worst thing ever. If it's worth playing will someone please tell me before I hock over the money for it? It looks great, and all of my friends that play say they love it, but it seems like 80% of the forum community don't have a single good thing to say.

So does ANYONE have anything good to say about this game or should I walk away before I purchase it this Thursday (payday)?

Also if you're trolling I'll smell it from a mile away so just don't even attempt to contribute your opinion to the discussion if all you hope to do is troll me, cause I'll pretty much just ignore it.

Lots of amazing things to say about the game. Combat, for one. The reason why you don't see so many positive posts is because people don't like white knighters, TERA's players are surprisingly realistic about a lot of things, and considerably rational, compared to, say, SWTORs die-harders. These negative posts are going to happen and have happened after every MMO that gets released because people have opinions and they want stuff fixed. Give it a month or two and check back, you'll see significantly less negative posts and chances are the population will be fine.

The people who actually enjoy the game will be playing it instead of being on the forums. It also doesn't help that anyone can post without actually needing a subscription.

The people that don't like something will always be louder because fans are fine with just playing the game and being happy with that.

Or people just like to troll.

The combat in this game is absolutely amazing, and the pvp is incredibly thrilling as well. But the game has a LOT of problems. The balance between the classes is pretty absurd as well. There is a reason why there are SO many slayers/sorcs at 60.

I have never had as much fun in pvp as I have had in this game. I just wish there was a bit more balance between the classes. Some classes have niche roles in group pvp, but its the first time I've seen classes be blatantly better than others.

Oh, despite my personal, principled stand against it, make no mistake -- there is plenty good in TERA. I wouldn't be as vociferous as I am in trying to reach people if I thought it was a trash game. The combat is fresh and invigorating, and so long as you aren't completely grind-avoidant, it remains pretty fresh throughout the levelling experience. The dungeons are downright gorgeous and the monsters are often truly inspiring to behold. Lord knows I've put enough of them in my Pathfinder games. =)

Don't let the tone of the forums concern you too much, we're having a bit of a civil war at the moment. It'll be over soon, for good or for ill. In-game though, you won't notice nearly as much of it. =)

No end game content, and the quests are awful. The combat alone can't make a game good when there is nothing else good about it.

Unfortunately, the forum population is not representative of the actual playerbase. The general populace on my server enjoy it immensely, and continue to level, work together, and grow as a community.

If you are bothered by vanity shops, have a lack of patience or desire for immediate gratification from a new game, you will not like this game.

If you want to try something new, have combat based on player skill instead of pre-determined stats, and have the little things that make a game surprising and unique, you will like this game! Growing lore, lots to explore, much to murder, and a standard MMO community await you!

I personally support this game. I love it, and enjoy it. I'm willing to stick with the game and support new content. This game has a lot of potential, and unlike the doomsayers, I approach it positively.

Isn't a lack of end-game content a given when an MMO first comes out? I mean, I don't ever remember playing an MMO at release that had a respectful amount of end game content. That is something, I have noticed, comes with time and rarely happens instantly.

This is exactly the kind of stuff I wanted to hear.
