OK, so, the dreaded dungeon finder will make its way to NA-Tera. At least it's not cross-server, so there goes one of the major fears out the window, gladly.
However, I must say I'm really concerned about how the announcement says LFD parties will receive BUFFS. BUFFS?? BUFFS?? What for? to make the dungeon EASIER for PuGs? I mean, please... bear with me for a moment. Isn't TERA's differential to other games mainly be how it's a challenging, skill-based game, compared to others who dumb and water down content so the so-called "casuals" don't need to be skilled in order to run through content?
Isn't this COMPLETELY AND UTTERLY AGAINST the MMO-FO philosophy that EnMasse advertises as the game's main selling point? Now, someone will say "this is done as to counter the lack of coordination in a PuG". Now, think with me for a while: EnMasse announces there will be extra rewards for running dungeons with the LFD. That alone is saying that they intend to make the LFD is the MAIN METHOD of running dungeons, discouraging people to just form groups the old-fashoned way. That being said, they are watering down content (by buffing the group) to theoretically compensate for a PuG's lack of coordination and overall skill. Doesn't that sound like DUMBING DOWN THE CONTENT TO TURN THE GAME AS A CATER TO A LESS-SKILLED, CASUAL AUDIENCE? Now, what's MMO-FO about this? this is the OPPOSITE of being MMO-FO, and it's utterly contradictory to EVERYTHING EnMasse has told us about this game from the start. It's doing exactly what WoW and RIFT has done, and it's becoming exactly what it claims to be different from.
Now, if you're like me and dont want TERA to become just another "casual-oriented" (note that I didn't say "casual-friendly", I said "casual-ORIENTED") game, speak up, for the hope of changing their minds about this aspect. EnMasse has proven to listen to feedback more than once, and if we voice our opinion enough, they WILL listen to us.
So PLEASE, don't give LFD parties BUFFS so they can clear content easier. Don't lower the challenge and difficulty in the game to cater to a less-skilled audience. Keep the game challenging, keep the game difficult. LISTEN TO OUR PLEA.
