Dungeon Finder: why give BUFFS?

OK, so, the dreaded dungeon finder will make its way to NA-Tera. At least it's not cross-server, so there goes one of the major fears out the window, gladly.

However, I must say I'm really concerned about how the announcement says LFD parties will receive BUFFS. BUFFS?? BUFFS?? What for? to make the dungeon EASIER for PuGs? I mean, please... bear with me for a moment. Isn't TERA's differential to other games mainly be how it's a challenging, skill-based game, compared to others who dumb and water down content so the so-called "casuals" don't need to be skilled in order to run through content?

Isn't this COMPLETELY AND UTTERLY AGAINST the MMO-FO philosophy that EnMasse advertises as the game's main selling point? Now, someone will say "this is done as to counter the lack of coordination in a PuG". Now, think with me for a while: EnMasse announces there will be extra rewards for running dungeons with the LFD. That alone is saying that they intend to make the LFD is the MAIN METHOD of running dungeons, discouraging people to just form groups the old-fashoned way. That being said, they are watering down content (by buffing the group) to theoretically compensate for a PuG's lack of coordination and overall skill. Doesn't that sound like DUMBING DOWN THE CONTENT TO TURN THE GAME AS A CATER TO A LESS-SKILLED, CASUAL AUDIENCE? Now, what's MMO-FO about this? this is the OPPOSITE of being MMO-FO, and it's utterly contradictory to EVERYTHING EnMasse has told us about this game from the start. It's doing exactly what WoW and RIFT has done, and it's becoming exactly what it claims to be different from.

Now, if you're like me and dont want TERA to become just another "casual-oriented" (note that I didn't say "casual-friendly", I said "casual-ORIENTED") game, speak up, for the hope of changing their minds about this aspect. EnMasse has proven to listen to feedback more than once, and if we voice our opinion enough, they WILL listen to us.

So PLEASE, don't give LFD parties BUFFS so they can clear content easier. Don't lower the challenge and difficulty in the game to cater to a less-skilled audience. Keep the game challenging, keep the game difficult. LISTEN TO OUR PLEA.

Believe me, I love TERA and my post is written with words representing this love for the game and everything it claims to stand for...

I agree with what you are saying. I don't get why there are buffs added to a group using dungeon finder. Then again. I generally spend most of my time out of a guild, so it would be helpful when forced to play with PUGs. But, like you said. It would be the focus of dungeons with a buff available.

Agreed 100% - giving buffs for using LFD seems entirely unnecessary, and further alienates the people who didn't want it in the first place. I personally don't have a huge problem with LFD, but rewarding people for using it is just stupid.

Yeah, but PUGs don't use voice so it's still going to be harder for them. Anyone from kTERA know how much the buffs actually do? Really curious.

I don't really care what they do with it, I'm still running going to be running it with friends and it's still going to be easier because the group will be a lot more coordinated.

I agree that giving buffs is a bit unfounded but for the reasoning behind it is to encourage people to interact with others that are outside of their static groups.

Well this all depends on how these play out.

The buff I am not so worried about. I makes a less efficient group more like an organized party. However during beta I did not really have problem with random groups so I question if this is needed.

The extra loot is troubling though. Does this mean extra rares will drop?

Basically it comes down to this. I have the option of playing with guild mate in an organized group or doing the dungeon finder. If the buffs and the loot drops make it so that it is a better way to level and get gear when compared to organized groups then that is a problem.

If it just gives a weak buff and make extra trash gear drop but organized groups are still considered a better option then I am all for this.

I love the rage of your post, it put a smile on my face however it's pointless to argue. They have decided and they will be going through with their decision.
