EME, I feel betrayed...

EME, are you even looking at ways to reverse this decision? over 2 years some of us have loyally supported you, and took comfort in your "promises". and now you go and stab us in the back and leave us to bleed in the mud to die. how can you sleep at night? and don't lie, we know you do!

i cant believe all the time waiting, supporting you, SPREADING NEWS OF TERA in our MMOs, the free in-game advertising we did for you, the massive amounts of trolling we had to take for you. and you brand us in asia as criminals and gold farmers..gee thanks.

I can really feel it. the fact that you summed up the reasons as to prevent "hacking" and " attacks" is so lame its ridiculous. you know damn well yourselves that this wont prevent any hacking, if anything you will incite even MORE attacks.

I was cheering for you when the NCsoft lawsuit news hit, but now i see you're both the same beast. it doesnt even make economical sense to block ip. Final Fantasy did it, and look where it got them.

after launch and the hype dies down, and you find that your numbers aren't what you expected, i'm not sure if ppl will come back even if you lift this block.

EME, you hurt us. you really did.

and you probably wont even read this....

I think you should have had realistic expectation of this happening.

After all, this is EME NA, not Asia or Middle East or Africa.

I'm not saying that all Asians are gold farmers, or all North Americans are legit players. However, if the past has taught us anything, it is that the majority of hacking/gold farming/etc do come from Asian countries, and although there are legitimate players coming from those regions, they are miniscule compared to the number of bots/gold sellers from the same regions.

When it comes down to it, it's all about the profit for EME. The potential cost for opening up the servers to everyone in the game simply outweighs the potential benefits.

If EME can profit from allowing players from the blocked regions to play on its servers, then they'd not hesitate to allow them to play...

Being a little dramatic, aren't we?
Things can change, and they may lift the IP ban later on.

I do agree with you though.
It's really unfair, and if I'm being brutally honest, kind of racist.

But this is just protocol for EME to allow a successful and smooth launch.
I'll bet this is only temporary, just to guarantee the community starts off fresh.

a) It's not in the least bit racist.
b) OP lives in a high risk area, why would a company undertaking a multi-million dollar project want to open themselves up to high risk areas?
c) Stop taking it personally
d) Try use a proxy service

Racism is treating someone differently due to their race. The ip block is either racist or so close to it to hardly matter. It's describing all the people in those areas as potential hackers and such.

OP is definitely being dramatic, but it sucks to have a do this to you, especially if you've been waiting for a long time. Give him a bit of sympathy at least.

Dramatic or not he is right since how EME and Frogster "announced" it (of course You cannot call it announcement) is totally [filtered].
Also try to post in existing thread so we won't have huge mess on new forums:

Personally I think the IP block will fail because gold farming companies will either:

a) Move their business in a non-IP blocked area

or

b) use a VPN/Tunnelling service to bypass the IP block

a) Not feasible due to high cost. Gold farming companies are all about low cost, high return.

b) Perhaps, but then they'd also have to figure out ways to purchase the game, since EME does not accept purchases made with foreign credit cards, and the boxed version of the game is not available in those regions.

You can always ban the B option, its not difficult.
