I have serious issues with the temporary dye system. Koreans tend to like temporary items because they highly regulate their play time. Most of them play in internet cafes, and pay by the hour, both for the computer, and the game.
In western countries, we tend to play in our homes, and whenever we find the time available. Temporary items then, for us, makes our much more relaxed attitude a detriment. How is it good to punish people for playing the game?
No game has doen this before, it is just silly. RIFT had one fo the best customization options i have ever seen, and i beg of you to look at it and examine why they did it... because ill tell you now, it was very well received. Nobody complains about rifts dye system.
Numerous time i have heard the argument that it is a gold sink, but that is simply ludicrous. At levels where you gain hundreds of gold an hour... what is 50 silver? and 1 gold for 7 days worth of dye? This is NOT a gold sink and is just annoying. Seriously, i do not want to log on and realize, oh, i had better check my dye timer. It is a massive nuisance.
On top of this, even if it WAS gold sink, it would only affect those who actually take the time to enjoy their gear. Gold farmers honestly do not care about aesthetics, they care only about utility.
My main issue is the psychological side of it. I do not want to feel like i am being punished for being logged into the game. Even if the cost is trivial, its a frustrating component that i have to repeat for no reason other than "we felt like making it temporary". I also want to feel like the armour is actualy the armour i want it to be, not a piece of armour pretending to be the one i want.
Please EME, i beg of you, change at least some fo the dyes to permanent ones.
You want a gold sink? Then release permanent dyes that cost like, 200 gold. Theres a gold sink right there. Thats 4800 hours of playtime with the current system.
Or, release some crafted dye recipes that are permanent.
