I'm assuming you are outraged at chronoscrolls as well since those are pay 2 win by your meaning?


1. Chronoscrolls are a necessary evil to combat RMT. Lazy people are going to use one or the other, and I'd rather they use Chronoscrolls because that doesn't give rise to an army of bots.

2. Chronoscrolls aren't opening the door for further monetizing of in-game items and benefits. If EME decides to monetize gameplay affecting items, it can only get worse from there on in.

For example, if it's okay to sell players mid-combat stam potions, why not sell them 24 hours of no stamina loss entirely? That's very similar and accomplishes the same goal, right?

If that's okay, why not sell them 24 hours of increase drop rate and exp gain? If that's okay, what's so wrong with allowing players to buy levels?

Don't start on the slope and it won't be an issue.

Yes Chronoscrolls are Pay to win.... If you are paying for something that will get you alot of gold then yes you are paying to win. Just because the only benifit from them is game time they would need to purchase anyway it is still paying to win because that person paying for them still needs to pay for another month's of subscription in the end.

Truely , I couldnt read page 22-33 . But is there any chance We might be able to buy ,, say ,, our sweet undergarments back and possibly purchaise a real hot pair of Elin short shorts for our favorite in game friend :)

I'm guessing alot of casual PvE player's would love to be able to buy an epic sword instead of grinding a boss that drops it over and over hoping for it to a drop.

Can't see any problem with that, your gonna get the sword regardless, it just save's grinding for it if you choose not too.

It's all about choice, some choose to grind for item's, while other's might like too buy them and be done with it.

A great way to get extra money for the dev's to continue improving the game.

As for this argument of "pay to win", we already have something similar already, those that "play the most" win !!

We should have a choice to either "pay to win" or "play to win".

The only problem with that is player envy lol

WELL I wont stand for this.

What is available in Korea are VANITY glasses/eyepatch and a mount.

You obtain a secondary currency through your subscription fee and buying these items as well as (apparently) in game activities that can get you bandages/pots and such.


I personally don't care because in the end many of those "Casual Players" are going to end up spending lots of cash for gold illegally to get those epic items anyway so if Tera sells them the money stays where it should be in the company's hands not the "digital pirates"

Since Tera technically owns those items they have every right to profit off them instead of the illegals getting all the money.

Since my response has been buried... I am reposting it here and we are going to close out the other threads. Feel free to reply below.

Right now our focus is on launching TERA successfully and whether you believe it or not we have yet to make any decisions around most of these type of items. We have talked about some of the premium items we are working on such as name or appearance changes but beyond that nothing is final."



The problem is, we already know how EME works. So that is why we jump the gun. You guys have made nothing but silly decisions so far.

Nothing is final, we know what that means and I can tell you that from the decisions you have already made, lead us to nothing but more shops with items to come. Prove me wrong.

Still doesnt say whether you'll do this or not in the future. Put this issue to rest by saying

"No we will not have a cash shop that affects ingame characteristics other than cosmetic in any way, shape or form"


^^ THIS! Until you do this, we already know you plan to put the item shops in the game. You just won't comment on it, because you know it will piss off the majority of players, and lose tons of us.

I would rather see the so called, "Digital Pirates" gets the money than the company if they make these type of decisions. They can do other things to prevent these so called, "Digital Pirates", which they already are doing. Purchase the time on line and trade it for ingame gold to players for subscriptions. We do not need shops by any means.

Most other mmo have cash shop or vanity item shop.

Like other mmo game, Tera most likely going to have

1) Character Server Transfer
2) Character Racial Changes
3) Character Name/Appearance Changes
4) Character Transfer to Account with same last name (sibling/multi account).
And
5) The Chronoscroll system.


As long as it is only vanity item and not game breaking item, then I don't mind. Decorative pieces with no stats. None of those consumable or anything.

Well, let say they have a cash shop for those 5 mentioned above + vanity items, who would support the system? It can even be BoP item.


Even if people don't buy Chronoscroll, they still going to buy off gold farmer. Gold farmer will sell gold at a cheaper price than Chronoscroll anyway. It the back door, pay to win and it does happen and will happen.

By changing gears to BOP, those player cannot buy these "epic" item. Sure, they can buy the BOE, but the BOP is probably better.


If the shop come, I will give my opinion then. Why rise a fuss now when they don't necessary even have plan for it yet. Not like they going to remember your reply or anything. Heck, the staffing might even change in 4-5months, so just be concern about playing the game and voice the big discontent when the time come.

And for every single matter or update, people say they going quit. I will say, feel free to quit. Just make sure you do quit instead of coming back with these empty threat. Tire of seeing all these whining.

I tell it like it is and I don't get upset over trivial things like player stores, mischief engines, BoP and pantsu.

EME has done a pretty damn good job overall, but there are still quite a few things about Tera that need patching up.

I repeat, Chronoscrolls are a NECESSARY EVIL. I'm not happy about them being in game, but I'm infinitely happier than THIS being in game: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pUmOlBleT88

As for them being pay to win, yes, they can help dramatically with some of the endgame stuff, but I'm more concerned about EME outright selling levels like a F2P MMO would do.

The fact is, EME will not give us a final decision about these type of things, like cash shop. Not until the game is released for at least 2-3 months. I know EME can decided what to do with the cash shop, but just think guys, *almost* every asian game that comes to other continents, follows the "main country release".

So, I'm sure that if K-Tera put some P2W system in their cash shop, it's going to happen in NA-TERA too. Maybe I'm wrong and EME can be some revolutionary publisher that will do it different. That's my hope.

Welp, leaving my own thoughts here, on what i think, and what i'd like. I thinkt he only things that should be sold in any kind of cash shop are Race/Name/Sex Change/Plastic Surgery tickets. That and of course Chrono Scrolls. But unlike Chrono Scrolls, the other things should be non trade-able. All other things like hats, head cats, witch hats, glasses, and random silly accessories that can be traded, should be put in in game shops, they would be a nice sink imo. Along with mounts and such.
