well I can make lvl 8's on any server, takes maybe a hour or less, lvl 8 is when you get thunder strike. My lvl 38 is on jagged coast.
But my video was probably just gonna be in the same spot as my screenshot with the stationary orc as that orc spawns there and doesnt move at all, and its near the lvl 8 area.
I'm on Jagged Coast as well. I figured since we're limited to 3 characters we can just speed it up and try out the other race/gender combinations as well and see how they figure into this.
Also testing against another player will be more beneficial, as there will be naysayers who will examine the video and claim that the monster wasn't in the exact same spot or something.
Why the hell have you not targeted the mobs in the picture of START POINT. It is easy to say X is shorter than Y. But this game gives you a measurement of how far away something is when you put your target over it. You don't have to guess and use bridge marks or flowers.
Simply get a friend. Request Duel, Go X meters away on the edge where an Elin will hit them you can test it. Then do the same for the other races and show it missing it at that same distance that the elin hit. The UI will tell you and show what you are trying to prove, much more conclusively.
ehh this sort of depends on how they did the measurements. Where is the distance that this is measuring start and stop? Is it a consistent size dependent or not dependent on hitbox size?
I have not seen anyone test the accuracy of the measurement system and how it works.
Where on the character is it measuring from? center of the model? face of the hitbox? center of the hitbox?
Did they update the measurement system to take into account the changes in hitboxes for the races?
The measurement system needs testing as well, because without knowing exactly where the measurement starts and ends the data is rather useless.
Ofcourse, this might exist, but I haven't seen any test data/explanation for the system.
It does depend on that fact yes. But that is the information the player is given. When an Elin see's say 8 meters and knows they can hit it. Compared to a human seeing 8 and knowing they will just miss. That is a easy to see issue and one that shows either the A) lengths are different on the swing animations or B) the measurement system is faulty/inconsitent. I have already explain A roughly making some assumptions about the length displayed in game. If you need to test those assumptions then you have to test B.
The way to test B. Is to get a Aman then get another race (keep the same moving/ranged in both tests) to move to 10 Meters, 15 Meters and 20 meters. Mark each spot have both players recording it. Show the distance/where they are with and also what the moving party see's as the distance back to the other player when the other player has the correct distance. Then do the same using an Elin as the stand still character and see if there is a disparity in where the target actually is in both tests at each distance. If the system is done correctly they should be the same distance at each mark within a margin of error. If one is out due to a hit box size then it should be out by the same margin at each distance. If the difference changes at each mark then consistency of your measurements come into effect.
It does only measures to the nearest meter. So you will have to do small movements to get it to just tick over to each meter. I know it might tick over at 9.51111. But when it is on the tick over point it is the only way to get a roughly fixed value that is repeatable.
All in all this is a lot of screwing around. When the main issue for players will be. If the Elin can target something that says it is further away and hit it.
It'll be simpler if you just start by standing lets say 10meters from a mob and use the skill, than shorten it on the next mob if needed till you discover the maximum range.
I might play a human berserker since their thunder strike is slightly shorter than Elin, and significantly longer than Aman. But playing Aman, you have a much shorter range on thunder strike.

This right here is exactly what i was afraid of.
People automatically using the logic of x race is better than y race, so i will roll x instead of y.
PLEASE look into this EME. Last thing we need is people being turned down for groups based on race.

For PvE it doesn't matter. As everything's easy enough to do with one hand tied behind your back. But for the highest skill level PvP it can make a fairly significant difference, assuming there is actually a difference in attacks. The screenshots currently in this thread means nothing, it still needs proper testing.

Yes, which is why im asking them to look into it rather than just ask them to fix it.

Why don't you look into it yourself?
And if there is sufficient evidence of an imbalance, then present it and ask for a review.
You know, this game has been out in KR for quite a while already. And, on average, KR are much better players than NA. After being balanced by KR for over a year, I'm more inclined to believe there isn't a problem. Again, all the screenshots show is that it could use some proper testing to clear things up.

I would but i have to wait for the CBT5.
Time will tell, but i will be very relieved if this is an elaborate troll.

I don't think his intent is to troll, although I could be wrong. =p But his testing methodology is extremely flawed. The screenshots just plain don't show anything.
The outdated KR test was a lot more accurate, but they didn't use measurements that were practical.
