Now I am sure this has been asked before, but I have searched high and low for a topic that will answer my questions and could not find a direct one. Perhaps I am not looking in the right area and if so please tell me and lend me a link to said topic that will lead me in the right direction.

Now this has been a debate among the roleplay forums and what not as well as between my fellow guild mates.

What are Elins gender?
Do they have one?
Can they breed?

Are Popori male equivalents of Elin? or vise versa?

From the lore I have read is that Elin were created from the Goddess Elinu, and in turn the Elin created the popori. To me this seems like the Elin are woodland like spirits that care and work to make sure their earth is maintained and that the Popori are produced from wild animals to help. The way I see it Popori can be both male and female while the elin remain just female (atleast in looks)

However from sources I have heard that in the game files the Elin do not have a file to themselves and rather it states only Popori_F and Popori_M

C:\Program Files\tera\Client\S1Game\ CookedPC\Art_Data\Package s\CH\PC You will find no mention of Elin in here.

So what does this mean?

Is it to save space in the game files or is this a statement saying that these two races are compatible and one in the same?

I just want some answers, and I am not looking for people to answer me with pointless posts. So if you have nothing useful to say don't bother please I am not looking to be trolled by people.

Popori had originally been intended to be the male counterpart to the Female Elin, of course that idea was scrapped for petty reasons along the same thinking as them being censored i would believe. So now though? I'm not very certain what they have created lore wise since they scrapped that here.

Wether they breed or not isn't really the issue I have, just wether they love and can have an emotional AND physical relationship.

As for Popori, there are no female models for them (Other than Elin in the game files listed under Popori_F) and the only way they are female is by the players imagination. Not actual lore.

Nowhere have I seen any lore staing there are female popori or male Elin nor do they appear in game (unless you imagine some of the popori are female but srsly do they look female to any of you?)

I am mainly adjitated by people treating my Elin as a child in RP when I neither act that way in RP nor does lore dictate that I am in fact a child. The lore does state however that Elin have a dark personality despite their youthful appearance. Don't judge a book by it's cover, I do not play a child, nor do I wish to be treated as such, Elin are adults to wether anyone wants to believe it or not :P

From the tidbits of information I know, the Elin where created by their god, Elinu, in the image of her youngest daughter who wanted peace, love, and sparkles. The goddess Elinu is sleeping under their big tree.

Sources can't decide if the Elin created the Popori or banded together with them. Originally Popori where the male "version" of the Elin, but the developers apparently ret-conned that because it was icky.

Now, what I'm more curious about is whether or not there are Popori females.

Like Daisuke said, the Elin and Popori are the counterparts for each other, although in the NA version at least, that translated into 'the goddess created the Elin in the image of her youngest daughter, and in turn the Elin created the Popori to aid them in their appointed tasks'.

So...Elin are at least visually female. Whether or not they're actually ferale is another question.

I don't think they breed--I've seen around the lore parts of the board that they apparently 'recycle' back to the goddess once they die, and then possibly come back again as Elin, and I think (haven't seen anything clear on this) that the popori are picked as animals by the Elin and somehow 'magically' altered to become bipedal and intelligent. So that would exclude breeding from the picture, I believe. Why the Elin pcik only male animals, I don't know (at least lore wise, anyway--game mechanics wise, again, because they were originally designed as compliments to each other).

I imagine they pick animals because the Elins are the "guardians of the forest." Animals are in a forest. Makes sense to me, anyway. Both races seem to be created "out of the ether" as it where.

Elins *do* show romantic interest in males of other species. Or, at least, I am interpretating it that way. The Elin nearby Leander (Elleon's Brother) in the Island of Dawn seems to want to impress Leander awfully badly and thinks he is "pretty". Take that how you will.

Also as for the Popori there is one in Pora Elinu who has his eyes set on an Elin. Don't believe me? Go to Pora Elinu and speak to the Popos yourself hehe

So the lore for Elin and Popori is a huge mess because they scrapped their original idea? Now Why did they do it?

Is it only for the Western release of the game? or is KT altered as well?

I'd say it was to 'spare' our poor little western sensibilities...even though the game is rated 'Mature', races with a human-like female and animal-like male are not uncommon in (at least) japanese anime and manga (which I'm pretty sure was part of the marketing target for NA), and it's not like you can 'created your own beastiality scene' in-game.

...I'll be honest, this is the first 'Mature' rated game that's closer to being rated 'G' than most Disney films I've seen, thanks to all the censoring in the NA release.

KT may have altered it as well. But still. A mess is a mess. Difinitive answers need to be decided on.

Personally I think making them genderless beings incapable of romance would be kind of sad... And really hard to RP. Might as well RP a robot at that point. Elin/Popori are flesh and blood. Why not allow them flesh and blood relationships? Why leave the topic this wide open? Are they just afraid to answer this? Are they afraid if they say they do have romantic/physical relationships that people will freak out over pedophilia/beatiality and if they said they were genderless unromantic beings then no one would be able to relate to them and thus cause an uproar from people (like me) who think that flesh and blood beings should have flech and blood relationships?
