I agree that it would be nice if the emotes could show up in the chat log. But I like the selection they have - its a little limited but the ones that are there have some wonderful animations (I especially loved the popori's emotes).
One other thing I could add though, and its mainly only an issue for role-players, but I didn't see any way to have our characters role-play things directly in the chat box (I'm not sure what the actual term would be). For example in other games you can type /e or /me followed by some text and whatever you type comes up in the text log in the same way the emote text does. For example:
"/e peers around the corner suspiciously" would come out as "Kestrel peers around the corner suspiciously"
As it is now when you type into the chat box it comes out with "Kestrel says: peers around the corner suspiciously" or "Kestrel: peers around the corner suspiciously" which I know isn't a major issue, but would be a nice quality of life improvement for us role-players.
I know its not a biggie, but I thought I would share my thoughts. I agree with some of the other posters though that this sort of cosmetic fluffy stuff should probably be left until they sort out any of the bugs with the gameplay (of which I found none during my weekend but there's got to be something somewhere). But it would be nice if we could see something in the future for us pain in the neck RPers. :)
