From En Masse :-
We block IPs based on region. Asia, Africa, Russia, and the Middle East are included on the block list .
What ever En Masse reason they shouldn't block IPs based on region ..
First, many people in Asia speak neither Japanese or Korean, so telling them its fine to play on those servers is the same as if you were told you had to do so. An MMO isn't much fun if you can't actually communicate with anyone.
Second, there are very few countries in Asia that are havens for goldselling, so there is no need to block half the world. Add in the fact that as you have probably seen from the complaints in these forums, the IP block only managed to block the legitimate players - the goldsellers are alive and well, and in Tera already.
Third, a lot of the people that are blocked are like me - American and would prefer to play with friends and family and cannot because of a nonsensical, discriminatory IP block.
Fourth, the licensing is not the issue - En Masse has already stated their only reason as preventing goldselling, and as I said above, it obviously failed spectacularly.
So, yeah, you can be for the IP block, but I have yet to see a single valid argument for the IP block, just blatant stereotyping and discrimination - both from En Masse and individual posters.
I can see a legitimate reason for a block if En Masse had targeted the countries that have goldselling as an issue, and they are well known. Even then, as I've said, the IP block hasn't done much to help.
The end result of all this is giving En Masse a bit of a bad name for their heavy-handed discrimination, cost them many legitimate subscriptions and done little to nothing to combat goldsellers.
Thank you Phatlewt .
