So, after being at the end game for a week, I thought I'd try out some various end game activities. Here's what I found.
1. Rep quests. To max out rep in any faction requires you to run the same quests every day for a month. Thankfully, this takes about an hour a day at most. Expected "end game content" - 30 hours
2. Enchanting. Each enchant should take about 2 hours. 1 hour to run Fane and get the enchant fodder, 1 hour to earn 252 gold for alkahest. 50% success to +7, 20% to +8, and 8% to +9 means on average we need to spend 40 hours per item. Expected "end game content" - 40 hours
3. Crafting. Any armor working is bottlenecked because it requires a dropped item every 40 levels. The recipes require a ridiculous amount of materials (333 archrune of the titans for 1 bow? Seriously?) that only drop from level 43 BAMs at a rate of 30 an hour. Or you can buy them on broker for 7 gold each. Expected "end game content" - 100 hours
4. Harder dungeons. Hard to say anything about these because lancers kick out archers/berserkers before they get a chance to run it. Expected "end game content" - 0 hours
5. Vanarch Elections. 2 week process, and what you can do is vote. You can also get votes by killing low level mobs for newbies. Expected "end game content" - 1 hour
6. Nexus Invasions. Sorry, there's only 6 a week on a time I can't be on. Expected "end game content" - 0 hours
Result - 171 hours of end game content available.
Now, here's the big question - how much of this actually looks fun? Killing BAMs 17 levels lower than you for 100 hours? Repeating the same quests every day? Working for 2 hours for enchant fodder/alkahest for a 4 second roll of the dice?
For a "skill based game", it seems a little strange that all of end game is based either on luck (enchanting, drops in Fane/Balder's, Archrune of the Titans drops), time and persistence with easy tasks (Crafting, rep quests), or hoping the lancer in your dungeon isn't an elitist.
