So we've had some internal communication with the other teams involved and a decision was made to push the maintenance for tonight.
We're not pushing it far, we're pushing it out a day. We have some important stability updates that we're hoping to apply tomorrow and we didn't want to restart the servers tonight and tomorrow.
So hold tight... I'm pushing for a restart as soon as possible!! I promise you.
It's been a 15 hour day for me so I'm going to get some shut eye. Goodnight and talk to you guys tomorrow.
I wouldn't mind as much if this happened at any other point in the game. The timing on these issues couldn't have been worse. I've fallen behind my group of friends and now must level solo as a healer while they painfully try to complete endgame with a pub. It isn't so bad if it were 1-2 days, but for them have to attempt it for 4(now 5 because restart is pushed back) is making the game very unenjoyable.
I understand that this problem started right before the weekend, and that the required staff was probably off those days. Today you were very quick at responding and working with the people affected by the problem. Thank you Wally for putting up with us and keeping us updated, we were in the dark for 3 days or so without a word. Now that you have figured out the problem, you tell us that it falls on a maintenance for it to fix itself. Cool. I let them all know that I can finally attempt to catch up tomorrow! Only I refresh the thread and find out that I have to tell them to wait another day for me to even begin to play catch up.
I am sure you have your reasons for delaying the maintenance and not restarting servers. Still, I cannot understand the decision behind delaying people from playing or even starting to play the game, especially when the game is in its first week of release. A number of people have asked for compensation for both time and falling behind in levels, but that is yet to be addressed. Thank you for attempting to fix the problem, but overall I am very disappointed in how all of this was handled(except for you, wally).
Again I appreciate the updates Wally, but I do find that news to be quite disappointing. Wouldn't it have been possible to just restart the servers one by one? I could be uninformed here so I apologize if wrong, but it seems like the last time a server was restarted it only took a few minutes. An in game announcement that the server will be coming down for a few minutes to fix a bug and people just log back in, no harm done!
Mainly just worried about the "hoping to apply tomorrow" part, whats going to happen if its not ready tomorrow? I know restarts might inconvenience the players playing this late at night(or early in the morning whatever your definition ;P), but what about the inconvenience this problem has been for everyone afflicted by the bug? Most of us have been unable to play with our friends or guild for days.
Anyways just my thoughts, I'm going to bed too!
This is all well and good, but what about people who have lost 5 days to a week of gameplay time like myself?
I payed good money and was promised no interruptions or delays over release, I was immediately charged incorrectly which caused overdafts and delays, I have not received a serial / Frostlion / any code in an email during shipping for my CE as I was expecting, and this is the second time I have gotten the 'Subscription Status: Expired' error.
I find it hard to believe that by later receiving the CE with the 30 included days that I paid for, and being required to sign up for a non-refundable recurring subscription plan before I can use said included time purchase, could possibly make up for all this. Quite the contrary that seem like salt in the wound on top of an insult.
Especially being an atari games fan who purchased through atari.com
I am seriously considering auctioning this crap on ebay later and boycotting these brands. -_-
bunch of pansy nerds with nothing better to do than pollute forums all day. jesus christ.
