This gives me reason to play more class variety for my stream, rather than just my main. Be cause I was thinking that I would want to play my main more since he would be carried over after the beta. But now that I know that he will be wiped, I will just focus on playing ALL the classes! (And races too!)

I have to be honest and say I absolutely hate this idea. Many MMOs purposely make this kind of naming workaround impossible for a reason. Players like to feel unique, and it's difficult for a player named "Certain Death" to feel unique if there is another player on the same server running around with the name "Certain.Death", and visa versa. It becomes very easy for one of those players to get saddled with the others reputation.

Surely there are enough names floating around out there without providing players with a way to borderline-impersonate one another? If this is such a huge concern, why not force players to choose a first and last name and only require the last name to be unique? I wouldn't have a problem with someone being named "Bob McNugget" if my name was "Bob Pickletoe".


Getting rid of periods doesn't mean this isn't an issue. People can always just create "Certain Deatth" or "Certaiin Death" or something else. I honestly in past games haven't seen this as a big issue.

This may or may not (probably not, admittedly) be the best place for this but since it has to do with patching, of a sorts...

How good is your communication with Bluehole Studios on the patches that come out in Korea, and how quickly will they make their ways here?

How much developmental control do you guys - En Masse- have over the NA version of TERA?

I ask this because I remember the insane delays between patches when it came to Aion, and it was a huge point of the community - namely we felt abandoned.

Lots of great info, but this really caught my eye. It's great news to see that BHS is committed as everyone else is to seeing Tera succeed in the West. I can't wait to start playing this Friday!

Not wiping chars after the Open Beta is a horrible idea !! Please don't do this. That is would the preordering and early access is for. If you don't wipe the chars after Open beta then players are going to blow through the content of the game and then QQ cause there isn't going to be any content at the end game for these players and they are going to post their rage and frustration, those bring down the game as a whole and the community in general.

Just have players make new and final chars at the early access date !! Please wipe all chars for all betas.

Or you could be patient and wait for them to get it sorted. They said they have a backup plan if the retailers can't get the keys out to people. Just chill.

Knoxxer to the rescue? Kinda? Sorta? This is some great information, Knoxxer. Interesting stuff you've posted. I think it's great of you to explain why there would be no wipe once OBT starts. That requires that I do some thinking about what my character will be for OBT. ^_^ Thanks again!
