Has anyone else noticed a sharp increase in talk about how games are going to "fail" of recent times? I have seen COUNTLESS threads about how TERA is going to fail, because it has "failed" in Korea, and COUNTLESS threads about how GW2 is so much better. FIrst off, I happen to disagree, but secondly, I saw multiple comments on the video I was viewing that GW2 is "going to fail".
Whatever happened to well-wishing and letting the company do it's thing without all this "going to fail" stuff? Am I just now noticing this, or is this a recent thing?
It's been getting worse and worse, I wish people could just be positive about everything and stick to what they liked. But that is very wishful thinking indeed.
Being one of the ones making TERA generals on 4chan I dealt with more than you could imagine, im tolerant of it now.
The general IQ of the average internet goer has dropped significantly. Every 12 year old is a marketing genius and can tell right away from a 30 second video clip of a pre-alpha game, that it'll fail at launch.
Of all the idiotic memes in the world "Haters gonna hate" is actually a pretty valid one.
Let haters hate and don't feed them. Maybe they'll go away if they stop getting attention.
I know nether, the fact that things like music and game choice is preferential and completely based on someones taste makes it illogical to make fun of them for playing or listening to whatever they choose to listen to or play.
But most people are just arrogant and mean nowadays. :(
A lot of it is a bunch of people listening to the media and not thinking for themselves.
Like some big hot shot with a gaming review website takes a look at a game, without even playing it, states "this will fail" and everyone panics and the word spreads. Cause half the people can't sit there and think "Well, that is his/her opinion, I should try it out for myself to make my own"
When people whom are actually going to sub for this game play on a regular basis, I'm hoping that all that sort of talk will dissipate. A lot of people have given this game zero chance of even a thought, after disliking just a single point about it. I do see some actual 'mature', and by that I mean responsible behavior within these very forums, and I would like to keep seeing individuals who do not only talk, or act 'mature'.. but whom are truly responsible. As long as those gamers hold on, I don't think En Masse has to worry about a fail. What happened at Frogster recently is regrettable, but should hold no dark cloud over the NA release.
Companies and their games that they are releasing are becoming like sports teams. Fans of their teams, internet gamers will bash and hate on their opponents, and support and fanboy their home-team.
It's all quite sad really.
Team TERA #1!!
If you ask one of those haters why any game is going to fail, I can bet you anything they don't even have a real answer half the time :/ it turns into an "Idon't like this because of this" and largely, these negative people fail to realize that their arguments are based purely on personal preferences/tastes, not actual, concrete/factual bits of evidence that ANYTHING is going to cause a game, etc. to succeed or fail. And yes, it seems to be an (unfortunately) increasing trend.
