Game Crashed During Creation: Name Lost

I have contacted a GM, and this is supposed to be up for "review", but there is a problem with the name database. I got a "0008:0000 General network failure" when I wanted to finish my character after picking a name. When I restarted, the character was not on the selection screen, and I could not use the name again. It wasn't blocked, because it worked the first time.

Anyway, the GM was unable to help, or offer any reassurance that this could be fixed. He/she "didn't know" if it was possible to create a ticket for my problem.

What's this telling you about En Masse's support already? This is before the game has begun...

If you can't find your character on the character select screen then someone got your name. Bad luck/timing.

Pay attention to why the name "won't work." It will tell you in plain english if the name is taken, or if it is blocked. I'm betting it says it is taken.

Not much, the problem is vague without the error message given by the character creator in relation to why the name will not work. I've had a few run-ins with support over the course of beta though and they are great. Once I submitted feedback on a broken quest where the turn in is listed on the map, but the NPC wouldn't comply. Rather then simply taking note of the issue for later as I suspected would happen, he turned it in for me too and delivered the rewards to me. I didn't ask for all that, it wasn't a story quest or anything. I just wanted to report it.

At least you can get to the character creation screen, I can't even open the game up before I get Error 8000:0001. lol

well if it is a popular name, id rather believe that someone took it.

Because companies never open up the servers early (they really need to do this, to prevent server crashes), I just simply make the very 1st combination of race/gender/class default there is, slap on the name, and hit "Finished".

I wait a few days to a week, and just pick a time most people are asleep, and recreate the character with the name i want, with the race/gender/class/looks I want.

Over all, at least we got the ability to use periods and other names.
Such as "Billy.Bob" if "Billy" is taken.
Wish more games allowed that kinda thing.

Oh I should also mention, CBT1 they opened the servers 30 mins earlier than stated.
Which made logging in easy and no problem.
I had the name Claire, and started playing with all the features, to see what I could make.
The very moment 30mins passed, and the listed "Servers open" time hits, I got the same crash, and when I logged in, my character isn't there.

Logging in was very difficulty with the heavy traffic.

I tried the name, and it gave an unspecified error.
I simply slapped on a different name, logged in, and I was standing to an Elin named Claire.

So most likely your name was taken during the crash.
Try the name again, and it should have updated the error to say the name is taken.

The GM told me that the name was not taken by another person. I would have understood that.

The name was not taken, it was not blocked, and it was not available.
