Im going to start a [filtered]fest with kids now, but Wireless have its weaknesses, the biggest one is packetloss and the way it handles it.

Wireless is actualy not really made for gaming, or streaming movies very well.
I know some providers says improved for streaming and gaming, in reality it meens they added in a bigger buffer for error, but the errors are still going to be there, and there are ALOT of them. Alot more than you would see in a WIRED connection

There are allso the chance of interference, it do happend on both the 2.4 and 5ghz but much less likely to happend on the 5ghz.
Packetloss however, still stays the same!

I'm puzzled at how this isn't common knowledge in the year 2012.

You spelled it out pretty nicely... packet loss pro status.

You can tweak the router settings unless you have a total pile of junk to optimize intra-network transmissions & make it more fluid & faster & packet loss is more or less the ISPs fault & the modem. Everytime Ive experienced packetloss it was because the Modem decided to be a bish.

I have a business router though (Some Ubee docsis 3.0 giagantic voip router/modem) the other option was a surfboard.

What was I thinking?

1) It would cost $150 to route a SINGLE ethernet cable to my room
2) Laptop

I think im also not the only one, its not wireless.

ok. i aw you wrote 5G insteat of 2.4 .. you guys hooked up by Wireless ? .. if so, thats still a recipe for disaster, especialy when it comes to games!! .. tell me you are playing useing a RJ45 cable / fiber cable or some other kind of cable! .. as long as its WIRED!

Amen to this. Wireless is horrible for playing games on. Packet loss pro's.... pretty much the story on that.

Our living situation doesn't really allow for wired internet. Either way Wired/wireless isn't her issue :/

Keyral, if your really interested in alot more knowledge about the subject, find the CCNA book, read the chapters about TCP/IP, Broadcast, Unicast and all the other CASTS! .. and then jump to wireless, it shouldnt take you more than a few houres to read thru. (understand it however might take alot longer)

There are allso alot of good information to be found about wireless and its weaknesses on wikipedia, shouldnt be hard to google. Just search for: Wireless packetloss wiki

JPSama ya me too, when i were in school, i were even more shocked how many kids loved Wireless and Skype + a group of friends, playing games, thinking they could be competative. Vs someone without those 2 weaknesses.

It allso came to my attention that most kids below 21 these days, actualy dont know how a computer work, they might now how to install a game, and play it, but their knowledge stops around there.

Yeah... waiting on specs. You're at work - you can't recall any of her specs? I'd check what the other guy said about over heating, then I'd try disabling SLI / remove one card and bridge, get the windows event log when the game crashes. Maybe something like DirectX is crashing.

Imo. first see if you by any chance can plug in a cable.. that be the easyist fix if it works, if she is still crashing then start installing stuff.

2nd. Check for heating issues
3rd. unplug the sli bridge if none of the above helped.

If its still happening, try all 3 at the same time o_O

If its still happening do give us a logfile from windows event log.. if there is one present.
And specs would still be nice
