Our living situation doesn't really allow for wired internet. Either way Wired/wireless isn't her issue :/

If she is wireless it might very WELL be her issue. thats what im trying to tell you

Re-read what he wrote. Jist of it: Theyre both wireless.

./facepalms

That doesn't mean anything... if her wireless card is bugged, if his PC is interfering with hers getting packets and causing a packet loss it would most likely cause a crash.

Some games don't handle packet loss well.

Let me cut it short for you.. and be ready to hit that face really hard DEAR!
Just because one device dosnt fail, dosnt meen both wont.

If both are connection, you have more interference in the air,
If her wireless card is not as good as his, or otherwise defective, or for reasons out of their control getting more packetloss, (all of these are likely causes, feel free to read about it). Then its LIKELY to cause whats happening

Now feel free to facepalm more..

Some games don't handle packet loss well.

Im playing on wireless on my laptop here most of the time (yes im too lazy to plug in even against my own advice)
And this game do not handle packet loss too well.

To put it short, if i create a packetloss of around half a second, im DISCONNECTED. Same on ventrilo. But not the same with Googlechat (voip) and mumble usualy recover too (dc 50% of the time)

The game, do not handle packet loss very well

Thank you guys

I will use this feedback and get her a better wireless card and test her graphics cards out.

dont buy a wireless card off the bat, seriously, test out the other stuff first, we are trying to save you time and money lol
Dont you have a neighbour or family or anything where you can test with a cabled connection ?

And even IF you did buy a new wireless for her, theres notthing to say its not your router thats not acting up, some routers just works better with some manufactures and chipsets than others. Thats sadly how it goes..

I was the first one to mention it was most likely the wireless card mister, your turn to facepalm. It doesnt take a rocket scientist or a smartass explination to find out whats wrong.

Your brainstorm possible problems, Isolate the incident, attempt to reproduce it until you have found a possible negative condition thats producing the error.

Specs is not the issue, im running Tera On preset-5 on an old asus rog (circa 08) & only experienced this D/C issue when the server overloaded & multiple people in raidcall also D/Ced. I also have Three systems side-by-side that are on Wireless-N, to get a decent stable transmission on the laptop I had to set everything to the highest transmit power & aggression. My AMD desktop with a Realtek wireless card (About $30 give or take on newegg, from ENCORE) experiences connection issues if the laptops transmission is set to aggressive frequently (Dual band) my Intel rig has a Quad Band Cisco wireless card & doesnt experience any issues.

If the pcs are in the same room (Or side by side), but have worked properly before with other games it could be the wifi card. if its always been abit spotty, its because theyre too close. So moving ONE of them and seeing if it does anything is step #1. Also update drivers & stuff for the wifi card.

derp.

I know about Band interference, I always use bluetooth headphones (K830BT) that have quality loss when a relative uses their laptops in my room on utilizing the 2.4Ghz band since their systems cant handle the Wireless-N @5 or I wander too close to the router sometimes it doesnt even pair unless I do it 2~3 times. I know it all too well.

See had your boyfriend logged on from the beginning TELLING us you were on WIRELESS.. (pretty sure i didnt spot it in the first post) (and im sorry i didnt read thru yours as i were answering the OP)
No specs or not much other info at all.

I would have pointed on the wireless first..
Yet im allways going to argue that wire over wireless is better.
And as much as you want, and pay for a wireless card, you cant really never expect it to be reliable as a wired connection, its just not going to happend!

Stating that packet loss is almost always an ISP/Modem issue when you are running through a wireless connection and some sort of wireless access point shows a general lack of knowledge of networking.

The fact is you see significantly more packetloss through wireless. And the moment that the wireless antenna or signal in general begins to get any interference you're going to start seeing major issues w/ packet loss and connectivity generally.

@OP

Wired is always an option... it might not be as pretty (i.e. cords running through your hallway) but sometimes you sacrifice looks for stability.

You can get a few CAT5's or long ones and get a Cat-Cat connection that will let you string several wires together and run it from your router to your pc.

orein151 thats not what i stated, but it in generaly in my experience dont help to tell people, not to have their microwave next to the computer and stuff :)
For the matter, add babyalarms and whatnot in nearby area too.. you think it help to go in tiny details.. Look at the op post, we dont get much details, theres no reason to go into every single detail till you get more info about the subject
