General Rant.. things I like in Tera why I think people should be patient

I see a lot of people whining (MMO peeps are so good at that btw) and posting about what needs to be fixed (PvP, End game) in TERA. I don't disagree with this as I do feel we need to have PvP and end game PvE addressed. But I want to take a step back and look at the game as a whole. We have a lot to be happy about with Tera. The graphics are excellent the game engine, outside of Nexxus and largely crowded areas, runs very well. The combat system is by far the best I've ever encountered in a MMO. I would also like to say that the UI is also my favorite in any MMO. It has just exactly what is needed to be effective. It's configureable enough that I see no need for addons at all. I could nitpick here and there but that is me just being picky. The que system seeems to work pretty well, I think we can definitely improve it but it works and once everyone got used to the queue times being rather lengthy they just factored that into their time in gameplay and got used to it.

So far BHS has had pretty regular updates on the news section of the site. They have added a few events to help our characters get some free items. They have tried to improve upon instance loot and are in the process of giving more people access to tanking as a warrior (I'm a old school warrior so I am still a bit unsure of how that will pan out, but it's nice to make it easier for some people to actually tank). We know that Battlegrounds are coming and to me this is a huge deal. How they implement battlegrounds will have a big impact on a lot of people including myself. I don't want to get away from the reason for this post however. What I'm trying to say is I do see them trying to improve the game and I feel if people are patient this game has the ability to be a very very good game. We just need to see if those developers can deliver content that can make it so (oh no.. not a Star Trek reference there!). I am a programmer so I'm well aware of the time it takes to roll out new functionality. It's not something that can be done in a week or 2 weeks. It takes months to roll out significant new features such as 1v1, 5v5.. bg's that have not previously been implemented.

So don't everyone run away from the game to GW2 just yet. Give them time to address the ideas that have been proposed. I like this game and would hate to see the population drop significantly over the next 3-5 months.

I'm still hopeful for TERA, sort of, although I'm pretty concerned about of how little we have been hearing from the developers. It makes me wonder if they are spending their time updating their résumés and cleaning out their desks.

Would it kill them to take an hour or two a week to let us know what they think of our feedback and what to expect over the next weeks and months?

No doubt there is massive potential here.
The vast majority of complaints I see are people complaining about mmo's in general more so than tera specifically (meaning you could take the complaint to any mmo forum and it would seem to fit)

They are going to have to start pushing updates and content out as fast as possible if we are going to avoid losing any more population though, and while I don't believe the game is quite doomed yet (as I was among the first playing WoW and remember the year long nightmare that followed its release) it is getting to a borderline state of being reduced to another microscopicly populated niche game.

I don't want that to happen but this has been a very painful launch.

I want to see the potential realized here and to see this game start to take off again.
Having identified all the trolls around here and the couple of them with multiple accounts. I've discovered the hate for this game is drastically less than these forums would have you believe though.

For now all we can really do is wait for QoA2 and hope for the best though.

Grats, you have 1 BG coming after over a years' release in Korea. That won't get old fast...

Combat is the only leg the game has, and it cannot stand on this leg with all the mismanagement we've seen on all ends. Something's got to give. The game is sinking in every market it has released in, NA too I'm sure despite the hush-hush on EME's side.

This game will most likely not last in it's current P2P state past the fall.

Sorry...

Why? Is it your fault?

Given the massive numbers of people I see riding around on 25 dollar mounts I don't think they are quite hurting just yet, even with the population down it would seem they are keeping the money flowing.

If this game does wind up dying it will be much slower than that. In the meantime I think the die hards and all the store spending will keep things going.

Some may say... Yes.

I can't exactly accuse you of being a overly optimistic force on these forums now can I?

According to your earliest projections none of us should even be here now as the game should have already failed outright...

Which is why I say "This game will most likely not last in it's current P2P state." They are honestly probably getting more revenue out of cosmetic BS than subs with the ridiculous prices they charge. And it's not EME's call as to what format they take... If Korea goes exclusively F2P (which it may, it's testing the waters now) I'm fairly sure NA will follow suit, as it's been so abundantly clear that EME has little/no sway in the outcome of this game...

Na, I'm a realist.

I'm aware of the hopeful few...futile as it may be...and much more aware of the throngs of drooling simpletons that refuse to listen to reason chanting "OMG REAL ACTION COMBAT LOL".
