Why was this added exactly?

I'm just wondering because I have already seen complaints with it here, on MMORPG.com and facebook, it seems it disconnects and also makes it difficult for people to set a destination folder for download.

Apparently there is a problem with "Happy Cloud" that is causing people to be not happy, nor clouds, it disconnects and doesn't provide the ability to select a destination folder and if you're unaware, now you know and you should fix it ASAP.

We need returning players and new players to be able to download the game at least before they receive their first disappointment, not while downloading it.

I'm spicing up general with more QQ cause i'm bored and don't feel like doing Nexus.

We added this as a way to get players into the game faster after only downloading a few gb, instead of around 25. We realize there are bugs on it and working to fix them, however we don't have an ETA on it yet.

If users wish to download the old way, they can do so by logging into account.enmasse.com, and clicking on "Download Game" next to their game account.

But u can't download the old way if you want to play the "trial" version. And TheHappyCloud is bugging...

Sure i can go to "my account", but instead of having Tera, i have a "Add your first game".
When i click on it, i just have the choice to buy Tera (but you already understood that i wanted to try it first :p )

Maybe i am doing something wrong, but i really don't have the download link on "my account" with a trial account.

I recently reinstalled due to the last patch and I can say thats False. I went to my account to download the game. and it still downloaded though happy cloud.. . I was not happy about it either. Happy cloud took allmost 3 times as long to download the game then the old way. Sure i was able to play sooner but the download time was herendius

Please En Masse, I do no want whatever 'Happy Cloud' is on my computer, or my new computer, when I want to play the game again. I don't care if I don't get to play right away, I'd rather wait than download a 3erd party program.

Can the game be downloaded the old way? Can you please, please make it so that it can?

Yes, you can log into your account at account.enmasse.com and choose the download button. This will install the TERA launcher, and download the entire game before you can play.
